Newbie wannabe rep collector here, and recently had a great first buying experience with BK (love my PAM111). Like many of you I'm sure, that first taste got me hungry for more. So, I found another rep or two I liked at PT that BK doesn't sell, and arranged to pay via my first WU transfer. This was about 2 weeks ago. 7 days after initiating the transfer, WU chose to cancel and refund my money. No explanation from the CSR except that they've chosen to do so for "business reasons" that could not be elaborated upon.

I find it a little odd, especially since I see so many positive accounts here at RWI about WU as a payment method. At this point, I'm not sure how to proceed. Try my luck again with WU, or has that ship sailed? I don't like the idea of using a credit card, especially since the processor PT uses set off all kinds of red flags when I googled it. And the idea of setting up a wire transfer sounds like something only a Bond villain would do.

Has anyone else had WU decline a transfer? I'd really like get some opinions/advice on the payment methods others use (across TDs, not just PT).

Thanks!
-SG

Did you go to WU at the grocery store with the cash or did you make a online WU from your bank ACC or checking ACC?

Hi and welcome. With online WU this happens all the time, not so in the local shop from what I read. Also depends on the country, some are being quite restrictive since beginning of 14. As for cards only use mine on Toro´s site. Best option in the future will be Paypal.

One of the guys in the box had this same thing happen with WU online just two weeks ago. If you do it in person you're just giving a name and a country and it's no problem.

I did it via WU online, paying them through my bank's BillPay service (took a few days for them to receive the funds).

If you will go to pigley wigley or the northern equivalent and take cash, then fill out the WU paper,,,, you will not have any trouble....I'm sure other can suggest better more friendly ways,,,, but my old fashion unsexy way always works..... just being helpful....

No problem here EVER using WU to send payment to China. I do mine at the local Rite Aid drugstores here where they all have a booth with a WU direct link phone. Get the details written down while speaking with the WU rep on the phone. Walk up to the cashier, pay up, get receipt. DONE !! Easy as pie, and the money is there in a few minutes, not hours and days..........How exactly and what did you do while paying by WU ? WU online sucks for your information. ............. the old fashioned way ALWAYS works !!

yep, just like they said. don't do it online. just go to a store that has a western union service and do it there. No problems ever. online can be nothing but a problem

Thanks everybody. It sounds like taking the antiquated, in person, approach to WU is the way to go. Lesson learned.

Thanks, and I'm curious why you're comfortable using your CC at Toro. Does he use a more trustworthy payment processor?

I'm sure Day will answer you as I have no idea about Toro,,,, but all of the td's are safe to use however they say to do it.....if there was a problem with cc's being boosted or anything like that it'd be all over the boards....

yep, exactly what mitch said. the problem with cc's is usually your own cc company. when they see a foreign transaction they automatically are alerted and mark it as fraud. not all cc companies, but mine for example is very strict with foreign transactions. and they usually decline the payment even after I call them repeatedly and tell them it's me making the payment. It's just a pain. Some cc companies are not as strict though.

I hear what you and Mitch are saying, but with the example of PT's cc processing...it's not in-house, and the service they've contracted to do the processing is using fraudulent trust seals. Krebs even wrote an article that specifically cites PT's processor:
http://krebsonsecurity.com/tag/sslcreditpay-com/

That said, I'm sure if the processor were doing shady things with the cards, we'd be seeing posts on this board about it.

Don't use WU Online, I made the same mistake. They can deny it for no reason, but if you do it in person they cannot. Problem Solved.

Everyone is correct. I tried and tried to pay using WU online with cc's and that didn't work; and then with bank account withdrawal - they told me funds available it 3 business days which ended up being a week, and then he funds were not here. I called and they wanted a fax number for my bank so they could fax them something - I told them that I no longer wanted to use WU and I won't- at least their online part. But, If using WU in person at my local grocery store is smooth I will certainly take advantage of it as long as PT's name, and the person I send the money to is not flagged. There are 2 watches I want and buying them from PT with the 10% discount makes it affordable as they are about $1400 and without that discount I need to buy elsewhere as the only way PT is competitive for me is by getting that discount.

Does anyone have negative comments about using WU in person to pay PT?

Hi, only reason is I´ve used it more than a dozen times without problems directly from the site without being sent anywhere else to pay. Might add that some years ago I set up a separate dedicated account with limited funds just for internet purchases before Paypal and others were available.

No problem here EVER using WU to send payment to China.

Same here, no prob. I have a Vons just down the street. Pick up a rep, quart of milk and a box of Ding Dongs all in the same trip.
