Hello folks,
I just got my V6 AP Diver. Great piece but there are a few things that need to be improved imo:
- Hands don't match that well with the dial
- High-beat movement should me low beat
- Crystal cyclops - date looks a little bit cloudy
- Some minor factory dirt on the hands
I see some people installed a new crystal with AR on their Diver. However, gen AP doesn't have AR??!
What mods to do? A relume maybe?
Thanks!
Ok, Here's the improvement you can do with V6:
1.> Relume Hands, - as they have a different colors with the stick lume and inner bezel lume.
2.> Relume the Numbers - this due to sloopy lume and unconsistence of the v6 factory lume on each watch. FORGET THAT THE REP WILL EVER COME CLOSE TO GEN LUME NUMBERS! so here is the explenations - Gen print a white base number on the inner bezel, this print is very wide, but they didnt lume all the base, they only lume some of it, this create a lume with a borders in it. AND THEY USING A CNC MACHINE to lume the numbers, so its so straight, so consistence with the white borders on the base plate of the inner bezel!
Heres the pics, notice how it has a numbers have a white consistent base on it.
Pay attention on the 5 and 0
3.> im in the borders for AR crystal as the gen did not have AR, but the crystal is so clear but makes reflections. with rep crystal is cloudy but if you DAR, it will look no glass at all, which a tell too, single inside ar might be the answer but i havent see what it looks like.
See how reflective but clear in this pics: if we dar the crystal, there will be no reflections like this anymore:
4.> DAR the cyclops.
5.> NO ONE can tell slow beat or high beat unless you put then gen side by side! so i dont know wheter their mods will be worth the money.
here's the video of gen slow beat and rep high beat.
6.> Do the movement service if you think the watch is a keeper, since the factory movement came up dry and dirt in some parts. Leaving it running without oil for some time will damage some parts and make it useless if you servics it later on.
7.> Sunken mods - this for me also not so important. This cult of sunken bezel happens because AP diver advertising pics, have a very dep sunken bezel, and everyone thought that the bezel has to be sunken, but this is wrong! not every gen has a sunken bezel, some of them only level, so as long as your screw dosent pop out your fine, you can adjust it until level or sunken its your choice.
Here the ad pics that every one refers to:
you can see how sunken it is
but look on my gen diver, it just level:
8.> one thing that people forget is how easy to tell a rep diver due to the buckle. rep buckle is still very far from the gen. So invest on a gen buckle is a good thing if your diver is a keeper.
Here some review gen and rep buckle:
