Is the 15300/15400 case back, rotor, screws interchangeable?

Got a ETA 15300 and a Asian 15400 on the way. Looking to swap in and out parts of the case back, rotor and possibly screws if need be. Would anyone know if they fit? Thanks.

Don't think so. The 15400 caseback shouldn't fit since 15300 is 39mm. Rotor might be swappable. Screws are also not swappable because as far as I know, rep 15300 construction is still old school with faux screws and all. While the 15400 has more gen like construction with the bezel screws connected to the caseback screws. So swapping screws wouldn't be possible.

But some 15300s were issued with 15400 crowns and crown tubes.

So rotor not at all? Might be a Miyota 15400, does that make a difference?

If talking bout movement rotor, as long the movmnt is the same then its possible to change.
If its caseback and screws i dont think so because the size is different.

I know from experience (tried to do exactly that). If you're getting a bp ETA 2824 best edition 15300 (has gen-like construction with functional bezel screws) and an A2824 15400, you cannot swap the screws because they are slightly different sizes. The rotors are technically the same mechanism, but the fake 15400 rotor is very thick because it is a standard rotor with an engraved part attached to the top, and therefore it won't fit into the thin 15300 case. If you do get it to fit, it will not turn because it will be pressed up against the case-back.

Caveat for adventurous modders: if you get a white dial 15400 miyota, it's probably possible to swap *the entire movement* into a 15300 case since the miyota is about the same diameter as an eta 2824. You'd have to break the feet off the 15300 dial and glue it on, and shave the miyota stem and fit the 15300 crown to the miyota stem, but it's possible. The hands might be problematic but the 15300 hour and minute hands should fit the Miyota without too much trouble. You'd need to mod the seconds hand. That would get you the closest-to-gen caseback you'll find in a rep.

Wow, that was exactly what i was looking for. Thanks. Sounds like too much work though, way over my head.

It actually wouldn't take that long for a competent modder, however you'd have to sacrifice 2 watches for 1.
