Im gonna sound a retard now, BUT just took delivery of a nice rep Rolex Daytona Ice Blue, and of course, it had stopped ticking, so I pulled out the winder, adjusted the date and time, and pushed it back in..........but it won't 'clip' back in, leaving it pulled out.
Is there a trick to pushing it back properly?

I'll venture a guess that it's a screw-down crown not a push-pull crown.
Back space it, (rotate crown counter clock-wise), til you feel a "click" then gently push inwards and screw-in, (clockwise), simultaneously until it stops. Should be good to go...

Damn...
now I'm going to sound doh
Try moving it thru the three crown positions, one (winding pos), two (date pos), three (time setting pos) and forward time in pos 3 so it changes date a few times.
set time to anywere between 3pm and 9pm
push in to pos 2, change quick date a few times
push in to pos 1, wind it gently a few times
pull out back to pos 2 set date to yesterday
pull out to pos 3, rotate until date rolls over to today, and set proper time (keep in mind am/pm)
push all the way in, rotate back and forth alittle, back-space towards you until you feel click, then with inward pressure rotate away from you til it catches and screws- in.

Didn't work again, is it a quartz rep? Not scew-down?

Sorry if it doesn't work...stripped?

Anyone else care to take a stab at it?

Link to where you got it, would help in identifying movement

Where did you get this Daytona Ace!
from any of our TD's?
can you tell us what movement it is, or rather a reference to its website with detail.

lets take it from the very beginning... Great approach though demolitionman... I'm guessing it's a quartz.

If you click the link I submitted, all relevant details of the watch is there.
I have NO doubt of the sellers integrity at all, Im putting this down to my stupidness dealing with, what is essentially, an engineered piece of work

It's a A21j model with the faux chronos originally from WBK and already been through at least 2 M2M sales.

So, when you push the crown and stem back in does it take you back to winding mode where you can feel the movement winding and the hands or date aren't moving? If you are getting back to that position and you still can't get the crown to screw down then it's pretty obvious that the crown or tube threads are stripped.

Maybe a picture would help.

Thanks for the kudos!
I'm sorry it didn't solved your issue, tis a possibility it's stripped...hopefully not.
Ask seller if they had any problems. Perhaps it's just a off a bit and you'lll get it by trial and error, but it really shouldn't be giving you that much difficulty to screw-down.
