I tried a very simple variation of this paint mod with Martha Stewart Pure Platinum acrylic paint, since Anitas isn't available in North America. I was really surprised at how improved it was. Even my fiance noticed the difference between eyerolls, which is amazing.
90% finished on left, Virgin on right
1-In a tiny palette or oiler cup, I put one small blob of paint.
2-I'd dip the tip of my brush in it to mix it in another cup of water. It was approximately a 2:1 mix of water to paint.
3-Mix it up so it's thin and watery, and then drag your fine brush over the entire bezel covering all the engravings. It should look like this:
Rolex GMT
Omega ceramic insert
4-Let dry for 20 to 30 seconds after brushing on the last little bit, then rub off with clean fingertips, blowing off the residue and switching fingers every 1/4 bezel.
5-Use fingernail to scrape of residue that is slightly more stubborn off the edges of the engravings. Just clean the majority of it, even if it's still not perfect.
6-repeat from step 3 at least once more.
7-use a wood toothpick to really clean up the edges of the engravings, bezel and crystal. Don't clean inside the engravings.
8-Let dry for a few hours or overnight.
Both done, but in need of fine toothpick scraping
I'm amazed at how different it looks in different lighting. I'm not sure if I need to add any chrome or silver paint to the mixture at all. I'm happy with the simple recipe and method. Thanks live1 for the acrylic suggestion and pillworx for the original mod!
