Finally got a SNZH-FFF... relumed and matte dial, AR'd sapphire to come.

Yea, but if its just painted on like the stock insert, I'd probably screw it up trying to scratch off the old stuff... much like I did with this insert. Too difficult to cleanly remove painted on stuff.


Im considering stripping the entire insert and have a solid ring of lume. If anything, I would want just an index @12, other than that why the hell not... its getting replaced anyways.

I'd like to see a picture of that!

I always wanted one of these. The whole package but i couldn't live with that seikoboy bezel so i stayed away.
Wish there was alternative.

OK, so I went ahead and did it. Stripped the entire insert and lumed the whole think except for a line which will be painted black for a marker @12. Im not too sure yet, but Im kinda liking my Seiko "Halo".

Well, here it is. Its definitely different, not sure how much I like it yet. In the dark, I love it, but the day look has yet to grow on me... guess time will tell if it does.

Wow! I'm with ya there. It looks amazing in the dark but not quite right in the light.

Could you add markers at this point? Maybe minute markers for the first 15 minutes then every 10 min after that like a typical diver bezel?

I could, and probably will. I need to get proper masking tape to mark off where itll be painted black. Im not sure if I want to paint it mostly black with thick lumed 15min markers or have it fully lumed with black markers.

I think fully lumed with black markers would be unique and pretty f'n awesome.

You know this might be a candidate for some of that black lume.

Now sure where one would source that tho.

Maybe mixing regular lume with some black pigment?

Why not design your own bezel in Photoshop, print the ring with markers and color of choice on transparency film using a laser printer, stick it to that transparent bezel and apply lume. It's just a thought I've had right now, never tried it myself so I don't know how well it works.

Well, for now, until I figured out what I want to do for a permanent insert, I am going with a FFFBB. The red plays well against the gold tone dial and "automatik".

Aight smokie, I have the layout done. Now I just need some transparent sticky paper and we can see if this will work.

If this works out well, I can make any insert design I want.

This is very interesting what You´re doing there. The basic idea works fine, missing the finishing touches now.

Very interesting! I agree with S, not loving the light bezel. Prefer the darker bezel.
But I gotta say, I never cared for the FFF before this. Definitely is a nice looking watch!

Unfortunately, its already gone. Traded it away for a Mako XL and some cash. But I also bought a box-o-parts and already built another piece.
