" Tech guys' designing a wrist watch ! Yeah right ! A 'wristwatch' is the only piece of jewelry a man can decently wear, and it ain't gonna be plastic with a battery in it ! Ha ! .................................... only a craftsman can build a REAL watch, and that includes all our venerable reps. And it has to tick ! Now, that's a watch !

Is this what we're gonna do today? Find all the teenage stupid bloggers on the Internet and waste our time reading their articles?

No offence Smokie but this wasnt written by some nobody. TB is right, as a market analyst, this guy should be above this kind of sensational rubbish.

"Richard Saintvilus is Founder and CEO of WallStPlaybook.com. After 20 successful years in the IT industry, Richard Saintvilus decided his second act would be as a stock analyst - bringing logic from an investor's point of view. His goal is to remove the complicated aspect of investing and present it to readers in a way that makes sense. Richard's work has been featured on CNBC, Yahoo! Finance, MSN Money, Forbes, Motley Fool and numerous other outlets."

Sadly, this guy did not do enough research, and is likely just trying to boost Apple's stock.

After reading this, I suspect the Apple fanboys will nod approvingly and those who appreciate mechanical watches will roll their eyes.

Unless a "smart watch" can summon KITT to come break me outta jail then I ain't interested....

That would be awesome! Sign me up for one of those watches ;)

I appreciate mechanical watches - nothing beats em, I now hate quartz... Can't stand the ticking ;) however I am not a fanboy - Apple have been disappointing in recent times... But I am very willing to see what Apple come up with for a smart watch and I will probably buy one!

One analogy I can recall to this is when the sythesizer first came out years ago and some in the music industry were writing an obituary for the piano. There are a lot of keyboards that can emulate piano sounds very well but nothing is the same as strings vibrating against a wooden soundboard. For well over a hundred years no one has been able to replace the sound of a 9 foot concert grand Steinway. Imagine going to hear the symphony orchestra with a guy standing up behind a Roland keyboard.

Like an acoustic piano, a mechanical watch is one thing that will never be replaced. But why the writer decided to choose Rolex and Seiko as his examples is a little strange. Fossil or Diesel watches maybe. :p

Founder and CEO of WallStPlaybook.com? What does it mean? He built a website and called himself CEO. So he is a blogger, there are hundred of thousands of them all over Internet, that doesn't give him any credibility in journalism or stock analysis, anyone who knows how to type can be a blogger. Is he a successful blogger? His site global ranking is 3,613,340 so you can count on your fingers the number of people who read his site, if they even read it. I've made stupid sites about nothing when I was 16 and ranked better than that.

"Richard's work has been featured on CNBC, Yahoo! Finance, MSN Money, Forbes, Motley Fool and numerous other outlets." Yeah, those sites have some really bad articles from all sorts of bloggers used just to fill in the page. Visit any of them and you will see.

IMO the dude is quite irrelevant.

I don't think rolex will loose one serious customer to an Iwatch? How can you seriously compare a $1000 digital watch to a rolex, omega, cartier, breitling what an unintelligent statement.

Would you ditch your reps for an iwatch? Imagine gen owners think they really could care about an iwatch and sell off their collection or stop buying gens?? Highly doubtful lol a real joke article

Those iWatch is for those who doesn't know watches, doesn't know how to read time, doesn't acknowledging craftsmanship, design, and complexity.
iWatch will be produced in mass, while Rolex AP etc produce limited product with slower time range to give perfection demand to their product and their consumer.
not made in china or assemble in vietnam, come on.

Fine watches are like fine art, photoshop will NEVER replace paintings. As the iWatch will NEVER replace a rolex. However I will buy one (when the release a second one of course because apple notoriously releases an obsolete product as the intro product). It will have vital capabilities. But NOTHING can replace an AP, a patek, or a rolex. Even in 50 years a nice wrist watch will still be for those with a taste for the finer things on life. I mean iWatch and a suit don't go hand and hand nor can you dive with an iWatch.

Been there before... wait, what?!... yes I have and maybe some of you as well.

Anyone remember the ipod nano? Square and you could buy a watch band for it. It came preloaded with several watch faces, nike fuel+ app amd the mp3 player. It was great as a runner or gym rat application. Ask me how many times I've worn it as a watch? Twice! Yes that's it. The reason being is that being a gift, I politely wore it to show gratitude and appreciation.

Now even as I run or workout, this original "smart watch" sits in a drawer.

Guess, I'm just biased towards trues watches. It will remain so, I will not become two watch wearing maradona ever.

:)

How many of us wear watches to know the time? I don't. I like the styling of them more than anything. My phone is more accurate than any watch at keeping time.
