How scratch resistant are the noob Cr PO bezels?

Thread title pretty much explains it. About to pull the trigger on the Cr PO but had some questions that I don't think have been definitively answered.

- How resistant to scratches is the Cr insert?
- Is there a less resistant (relative to ceramic) clear coat on top?
- Is it really ceramic or some other material that looks like it?

I know my BP ceramic sub was almost scratch proof. After swapping inserts I tested the one I removed to destruction. No amount of vigorous scraping and scratching with a razor blade would ever leave a mark. Only by being really hamfisted and gouging at one of the edges could I manage a chip. So, I guess the ceramic on the BPs at least was tough enough and kind of behaved like ceramic under stress. That is, it might chip or crack before scratching and was highly scratch resistant. My hope is the noob PO inserts are likewise robust?

And some gen pics for the heck of it.... :cool-new:

I just bought the Noob 42mm- so far, so good. The bezel looks pretty tough although I haven't tried to scratch it on purpose. Unsure if it's actual ceramic but it looks very close to the real thing. It looks like there is clear-coat on top but again, I haven't tried to scratch it to find out...

LOVE the photos BTW-

Yeah interesting point you make about the clear-coat. Perhaps noob's supplier applies a clearcoat on top of the ceramic to maybe prevent fading like BP's? Just a WAG. Also might explain why noob is shinier than the more gen-like matte of BP. If I'm off base please do let me know.

More pics to keep the thread alive. :cool-new:

Gen is indeed mat. I just got one in my hands and besides that the noob bezel is damn close, they did an amazing job!

Clear-coat makes sense to keep the color from fading. It's noticeable up close but overall the watch looks very good from about 1 ft away. Tried to upload a photo from photobucket but it's not working, I'll try again later. Ok, it went through this time. It's not shiny but more of a satin finish (in between shiny and matte).

Thanks for the extra pics- I must have that shark bracelet!!!

^^ gorgeous watch. Just ordered a 42 from Ryan.

Getting back on topic, anyone ever manage to scratch their clearcoat if that is indeed what it is?

Some more gen pics to stir the juices. These mesh pics make me want to get a rep mesh.

So my next purchase is going to be that bracelet. Thanks again, those photos are incredible- from an AD, I assume?
