Why are PAM's so confusing?

I used to dislike the look of PAMs and now I am in love with them and planning my fist Pam purchase. Either 111 or 390 to start but even with all the reading I'm still confused why so many have different numbers when they look the same to my noob eyes. For example a 111 looks the same as 117 but the case just seems to be polished instead of shiny. I see such small differences between Pam's but have different numbers and its confusing. Pam pros please share:) thank u.

YOU, my friend, are NOT alone. I've often wondered about this myself... .

Live, the more you get enchanted by the PAMs the more you'll see the subtle and not so subtle differences between models. There are a handful out there that look very much the same, but there are literally dozens that have a radically different look to their counterparts.

I own the 390 and 111, and if I were in the market for my one and only I would choose a 111. The tobacco colored dial on the 390 is difficult to pair it with straps. You have a lot more flexibility with the black dial on the 111. You'll eventually buy both though!

This can help out a lot. You need to take some time and read it. Personally, I think the Noob 111 is a great watch, accurate enough to the Gen and feels fantastic to wear!

I'm not into that brand myself (does nothing for me) however think about the Submariner or the Seamaster both have many different slight variances but all are built around the basic same watch.

They do small production runs hence many models. Rolex has more base models with variation such as dial bezel materials etc. They may have 6 to 7 models but for instance the datejust has quite a few variations.....

If you want to know more on pam model numbers read ales posts sstickyin the pam section

In regards to pams, i have noticed that people either love them or hate them. For some each model looks exactly the same, for others, the slightest little variances change the watch entirely!
Take a look at the Pam Guide which is a sticky in the PAM section, dont just look at the models, but read it from start to finish if you have time (It will take a while if you are thorough)

Once you learn about all the different models, then read the Pam strap sticky, and you will learn how just changing a strap can make your watch look completely different.

The same 111 or 390 can be dressed up with a nice crocodile or alligator deployant strap or it can be dressed down and look quite rugged by putting it on a thick ammo strap or even better a Xa Mas strap from Joe (SNPR)

But the key question is which one are you, PAM Lover or PAM hater :)

If you are in the first category then get ready to spend some serious quiche cuz this hobby is very addicting
