Very helpful thread Sheriff, thank you.

I snagged one of the Ebay ones from Chrono-Store, there still are a few available. Paid $675 which is more than I wanted but didn't want to loose out before these disappear.

I have a BK/Vac DSSD with full relume, also has a Taka double AR crystal. Will be sending to PBDad to install the gen bezel. Do you recommend the satin dial spray ? There seems to be some debate over whether the gen dial is matte or semi-gloss. I was initially planning on having the matte finish done but am having second thoughts particularly since I do have a double AR sapphire.

675 is not bad, at least you got one.

I think the matte finish depends on the year of production. Some had it, some didn't.

I had him do it on mine. Either way, you can't go wrong imo.

I think both are good and recommend at least single ar either way.

Where the heck are you guys finding your gen dials and bezel assemblies. eBay's got some bezels, but they are the bezel only and not the assembly.

Dying to start building one of these but the parts are a pain in the #$% to find.

Beautiful builds gentleman!

Thanks, Bro! I love this watch! It gets a lot of wear and I wasn't even thinking about it when I went shopping for xmas gifts to the mall and went to jewelry store for wifey and they were a rolex dealer and I was so embarrassed when I realized I was wearing a rep in the store but they complemented it and offered to polish it up while I browsed. I know they are not always extremely informed on reps and they could have just been polite, but I am 97% sure this rep passed the test. I would not enter an AD with a rep on purpose, just wasn't thinking... Anyway, I love this DSSD and at about 15-20% of the cost of gen, it's a winner in my book!

As for getting the bezel and assembly. This is the EXACT listing in which I got mine: www.ebay.com/itm/Rolex-Deepsea-Sea-Dweller-Ceramic-43-mm-Stainless-Steel-Bezel-/151152198566?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item23315f83a6

They don't openly advertise that it comes with the hardware, but mine did. You may want to contact them to verify. Also NOTE: They keep raising the price. I first saw it at $499, Then it was at $599, and when I pulled the trigger it was at $699. And now it is still at $699. I sense that these are about to become as hard to get as gen 116610 inserts/bezels. If any of you want this, you have been warned not to kick yourself later... (Now, I should get a commission for that high-pressure scarcity sales close - lol) ;-)

Best!

Honestly, I don't think a Gen dial is necessary. I think the SheriffWho would agree. The gen dial is a neat touch, but pb can make the noob dial pass for a gen.

The truth is that PBDad does a great job altering the Noob dial's sheen and overall appearance. However, the font and coloring of the text is not modified by PBDad, nor is the texture on the dial or the lume application. His lume work IS spot on to the color of the gen, but there is something about the way gen lume looks in those markers, that he doesn't seem to replicate 100%. Of course, if you can't find a gen dial, don't choose to invest in it, or can't afford to go with it - then yes, PBDad's mods are AMAZING and your only choice.

I agree that a gen dial isn't "necessary", but then again, none of this is "necessary". The fact is that it IS an expensive option - but it depends on if you're going for hobby, personal enjoyment, seeing how far you can get it to go, OR if you're trying to get it to pass. If you're trying to get it to pass as Gen, then you don't need ANY mods, because the Noob out of the box will pass for 99% of all people out there. If you're going for Franken parts - then it is what it is.

I also agree that out of the final two or three parts that I still don't have, that the bracelet is the primary (aside from the gen crown/tube and gen hands). However, for $2500 - $3500 for a gen glidelock DSSD bracelet, the $1000 dial seems like a cheaper option. :)

I think once the Noob factory releases a "V2 Sub-C" quality DSSD, the clasp will be sufficient. The V2 Sub-C bracelet as a whole feesl pretty gen-ish IMO.

Wow! This is one of the finest threads I've read on RWI. I've always fancied the DSSD. I planned to purchase a BK DSSD this week but this has my brain spinning.

Thanks for the informative thread, OP and thanks for the great contributions by other members on the discussion.

They are both reps. The BP is better otb because the lume is miles better than noob. I think noob, has better indices and the text on my noob looks more defined than on my bp. This may vary from one model to another...
