If you had a gen movement would you put a clear case back on your Sub?

I searched for gens with aftermarket clear case backs and they look pretty cool. I think I would.

Rolex movements are pretty bland compared to other high end gens. I considered doing a custom back on my 14060 No Date but I ended up not.

I built a tudor big crown with a gen movement and thought about putting a clear case back on it. My issue is most reps use movement tabs and gens do not.(at least none of the rolexs I have). TC cases are the only ones I have found with a gen like movement holder.

No way.

Given no gen Rolex has a display back ... I wouldn't ever want a mod that makes my watch look "faker"... plus since they were never made to be seem, the gen movements are ugly but functional, unlike a nice AL&S or Glashutte for example

Don't do it!

I love the watches that do have the display case, although rolex does not so I would not do that to mine. But I love looking at some of those movements with the open case back. they are just beautiful. I just like watching them work.

Funny how some gen owners have no problem modding their watches with non gen parts but rep owners won't. I have seen gen 16610's with a blue dial and insert that would not pass as a good rep selling at high end gen dealers calling it "custom blue" and asking 7k, lol.

I like it on the Daytona. Seeing as nobody has repped the 4130 movement and it is quite pretty with its blue parachrome hairspring etc.

Would I do it to my daytona if I had one....not sure. It is cool and true watch geeks would know it is gen from the movement, but people that follow those old shitty rules of spotting a fake would try to call you out.

You know: Real rolex have a smooth sweep, not a tick. Date mag is 2.5x etc etc...

No, no point doing so unless you gonna wear your watch inside out...........

I would if the movement was decorated. Thomas perik has nice case backs for Rolexes.
