Can you post a picture of the one you ordered? Do you own a gold rep? How does the gold stand up over time?

Can you pull off wearing a $20k+ watch? Like you'd expect the more you wear it, the faster the gold will wear out, especially on the sharp edges of the case and bracelet. Not to mention all gold reps are 14k, and the gens are 18k. Anyone who knows anything about a gen gold watch can tell its a rep a mile away because the color is all wrong. 18k is way more orange than 14k.

Orange??

:facepalm:I wish I'd known that the gold is orange ish......Most pics Ive seen here are decent. Nothing ventured nothing gained, I suppose.

Of course a gold rep is not an everyday watch. I could pull it off at weddings and on holidays I bet. Time wil tell......

Not precisely true - every foundry has it's own "secret sauce" of what they mix to make 22k/18k/14k/10k/etc gold. The color of 18k will be dictated by what other metals the foundry uses to make up the 25% that is not gold, and can vary greatly depending on that mixture. For rose and white gold the variance is even higher between different recipes. So not all 18k looks exactly the same shade - rolexes gold mixtures are usually pretty unique as they own their own foundry and have their own recipes for metal. (Ex: White gold that is NOT rhodium plated, yet is still very brilliant in appearance)

With that said, newer reps are pretty decent (the bp sub-c's and gmt-c's are pretty close in shade, and most of the daytonas and dd2's are also) - older reps like the non-ceramic subs and gmts, and the dd1's are very brassy colored. They would not withstand holding them side by side, but they look good.

I've been wearing more gold lately- here's a gold DJ w/ an aftermarket jubilee

I also do a 1550 GP Date, also w/ an aftermarket jubilee

I don't wear these watches everyday, just from time to time. If a bracelet wears thru, i'll just buy another cheapie!
