Why do Rolex reps still not all have 2.5x

One of the easiest ways to tell a rolex is a rep is by the cyclops. So my question is why do factories still use the 1.5x magnifier cyclops??? Is it cheaper because it's seems like just a tiny element that makes a huge difference IMO.

Pic crappy canal special I bought to fool around with before trying to mod my own watches.

lol,

why don't they have the correct crown, why are some woo key, why cant they get the rehaut right, why are the SELs so damn off..... this can go on for days.

I know what you mean, its mind boggling.

Like most guys pointed out, lower quality reps have terrible appearances. best way to go, IMO... is to buy a decent quality rep and replace some parts with gen or high quality aftermarket parts.

How?

The cyclops is glued onto the crystal using UV glue. You have to use a watch knife against the cyclops (& almost parallel to the crystal). You give the knife a sharp tap with a small hammer and the cyclops will come off. You then clean the glue remains off and fit a new cyclops using UV glue.

I guess it needs to be finished more precise for higher magnification cause the distortions are more obvious. Ain't nobody got time for that

I have had OK results fitting the date bubble with clear epoxy if you can't get UV glue.

It's pretty easy to get hold of UV glue and to cure it, I use a cheap nail varnish UV curing lamp :)

Magnification doesn't depend on material, but on sphere radius.

That's not true, it also depends on the index of refraction of the material. If you made a lens out of a material with the same index of refraction as the surrounding medium, it would do absolutely nothing to the light paths.

Or you could get the gen and never have that problem.
