Guys other than UK watch service (who never replied to email) any other modders that could do a crown / crown tube replacement on the new BP Planet Ocean Cr ?

I have the gen parts, but am worried about removing the stem.. As such would be more comfortable paying a semi pro

I've replaced tubes, stems and crowns by using the guides on here and it is pretty straightforward. I'd say to give it a go and fall back on a watch smith if you get stuck, most independents I've come across have no issues working on reps as long as you're not a ares about it!

Good luck and feel free to I PM me if you want any DIY tips.

Cheers

I screwed up the keyless works on probably my second rep and it was from over confidence rather than being too careful! I then fixed it using a guid on here and it felt like a massive achievement.

In my experience, you really have to give the button a pretty good poke to push everything out of alignment, if you're careful you'll be absolutely fine.

Get the back off the watch, unscrew the crown and pull out as far as it goes (time change mode) and then, while keeping a bit of tension on the crown with your thumb and forefinger, gently depress the stem release button about 0.5mm until you feel the stem give.

That's all there is to it, I promise!

Well.. What a bloody job, the crown tube was a nightmare to get out, spend over two hours, ended up using a mallet and pointed driver to hammer it out, and when I say hammer.. I mean it. Full force required.

Here is the new gen tube fitted with JB weld, not convinced I have it 100% straight

Sound like a horrible job! Would the rep tube not unscrew?

The most important thing is did it all go back together and work ok?

Well after 4 hours.. I have a PO for the bin..

The Cr PO needs a longer stem, after trying to get it working, I think I damaged the bridge less setting, ie the stem will only change the hour hands and the second hand would not move with the stem in place, then the stem snapped, and now the movement will only count for 5 seconds ...

Remind me never to work on watches again

Oh no, sounds like a bit of a fail.

To be honest, a new stem is a couple of quid from CousinsUK, cutting it down and getting that right is a bit of a fiddle but I'm yet to get one too short.

There's a really good guide on here about how to reset keyless works, once you've got to it, it is an easy fix, just keep everything laid out in the sequence you removed it!

As for it only running for 5 seconds, it might sort itself out with a good wind and a couple of whacks. Otherwise, a watchsmith will sort it out.

Don't give up!
