I've had to 3 watch deliveries to the UK in the last week 2 via PF and 1 DHL, no customs charges, so they can't be cracking down that much. but I guess it is always likely to happen at some point.

Sure enough, had my invoice through today for £24.40 as expected. This was for two watches though so could be worse.

Mrfog

Shame you didn't get away with it. I got a letter just over £24 too. I'll pay and get the package Monday hopefully, could be worse but feels somewhat cheeky of hmrc if you ask me.

Cheers

My bill will be for 24.40 also. I called them today, invoice should come Monday. This hobby is getting expensive. If the watch arrives DOA, or not ideal, I'll be really pissed.

It's the luck of the draw really. I have bought loads of watches from overseas and only been charged a few times by customs. Only delays delivery by a few days so it's no big deal. It's just the way it goes. Call it an occupational hazard of rep collecting. Lol.

My update...
I have been waiting on a watch i ordered from Cadence Watch Co.
Apparently it turned up last week, was in customs for a while and there are charges.
£6 VAT and £8 Handling charge = £14 on a $49 watch
It's a bummer yes, but it's the first one that I have been caught out on, but that's probably due to it coming from a pukka company rather than one of our TD's.
(Having said that, I've ordered from creationwatches and never had an issue)

So, I reckon the UK customs are just having a bit of a clampdown. They've probably had some big wig visit to check how they are doing.....who knows?

Guess we just have to 'bend over and take it up the tailpipe'.

Anyways, I love the watch...i'll post a pic when I get home.

Gutted - paid the fees and the the piece is DOA - so will be on its way back to China. Hoping I won't get stung as it comes back in, hopefully in the Christmas rush it will be overlooked,

The joys of the rep hobby, since on the upside first DOA and first customs charges in about two dozen so not a bad hit rate.

As you can see mine package seemed to bounce around a bit in Coventry both tracking wise and physically it would appear.

I think things are looking bleak for me. My package arrived at UK customs on the 27th, and it's now being held with the update "More information needed from addressee".
I called them and they don't believe the declared value of $40 and want to see the purchase invoice. :-(
I'm now waiting for the letter confirming this but I don't think there are any options here right?
The TD has been great, and will send scan him the letter once I get it.

That's bad luck! What's the news?
