First off, some gratitude. I've been having a blast here and have done some crazy projects that have been made possible by you all! Speaking of which, some of you probably saw my completed 16610 projects here. Well, dammit if I didn't get bored and move into another one...

You probably saw the other thread here about the available gen dssd bezels on the bay (4 of them for sale from chronoshop - well 3 now - haha)... I mean this is the real deal, full ceramic genuine bezel with full bezel assembly! Well my impulsive ass just went for it!

Maybe I shot first without aiming... But I dropped a good chunk on above mentioned gen dssd bezel assembly (you rarely see them come up - I HAD to do it - lol) and impulsively bought is. Read on.......

I have really wanted to love my dssd and have bought 2 of them. I have the most recent bp and the most recent bk. both gen eta movement. Personally, I think the noob is overall better quality but the bp has its fine points...

At the end of the day; however, the bezel is crap on both of them. Either wrong triangle, bad pearl, wrong color in font, poor engraving, etc...

The rest is good. The dial, hands,
Etc. are all pretty good, and the debate is over on the matte finish on dial,
As gens have gloss and matte (depending on production year).

Here's the deal...

Obviously I can get some ar and relume but that bezel!!! Well, as you now know, I Bought a gen dssd bezel/assembly on the bay - complete with all parts. And that should solve my problems and help create the perfect dssd rep!

Now you know I have a bp and a bk (noob) - both are the most recent, both have eta movements. My plan is to just take the bk/noob and get ar, relume, and install gen bezel assembly.

My question is, would you swap parts between these? If so, what's your opinion of best laid plans?

And MORE importantly... Will this gen bezel assembly fit either case? It has yet to arrive but wanted to prepare...

Anyway, I am always grateful for your wisdom!

congrats for your gen bezel !!

I have in mind from months ago your same project , but with one addition: gen dial also . I believe that with $ 500-600 you buy it!

I believe although you fit gen bezel on bp (or better on BK) it remain the defect of the dial. Gen dial is more polish and opaque (with perfect and nitid print). no comparison with bp / bk dial
i think gen dial is required in the same way as gen bezel . the majority of the gaze is to print dial and its brilliance...

for me the right project is: gen dial and gen bezel into noob/bk case.
please let me know who do assemble your pieces. if he is a user of the site... thanks

I don't how for certain, but I think the BP is good for swapping Gen parts. Personally, I would sell the noob and then swap the Gen bezel onto the BP, relume, matte dial and install a BK DWO. And selling the BK will give you all the money needed to mod the BP and you will have money to spare.

Ah... Utent Blue_Rocket fitted gen bezel on BK DS, certainly you've read about it.. but the work on bezel is difficult and accurate

Will look into blue rockets threads for sure. Obviously, I hope this is possible without crazy over the top mods!

Sweet dude ! Congrats !

And good luck, make sure you post pics !

How is the OGEV/RLS text on the BP?
That would be the determining factor as to which case to use, i would think.
If your BPs ring text is great use that case, if its not, use the noob case. I know PBDAD put a gen bezel on noob case, so i know that will work.

The BP dial is supposed to be more accurate so id use that dial and handset.
plus th BPs lume should match the gen pearl.

If you want to use the noob dial, youll have to relume it to match the pearl, but the dial indexes and dial font are wrong anyways .

Nice one man, have fun with the project.

I believe there are a few people now that have done or have on going project fitting a gen bezel on their DSSD. Some send it off to a modder, but I was talking to someone recently who had installed by themselves with a dremel. Those DSSD bezels on ebay were like 300 when I first saw them selling long ago, now they pop up and sell for around 500-600.

I have a BK DSSD , domi relumed and serviced. Was thinking about adding the gen bezel... but I was examining a friend's gen and the "ring lock" engraving just looks different. Is that part of the case or can a gen part be sourced...

Yeah... I just hit Joe up to see if he'd be up to the task, since he does awesome ar and lume, and is a talented watch smith as well.

As for ring lock, the main discrepancy I noticed with my friends gen is the "crispness" of the color in engraving, which is a fairly simple mod, but I am fairly certain that is part of the case. I could be wrong (I often am - lol)
