Some Help, Please; Trying to Change Straps

Hi, Mates!

I need to pick your brains for some suggestions regarding a strap change for a B&R 01-94 quartz chrono I purchased a while ago. I want to change the old black leather B&R straps to the newer black rubber B&R straps. Problem is -- I can't budge them. They don't appear to be spring bars (I tried) & tried screwing them off; problem is, the tops of the screws have a type of hex key shape to them that my metric hex keys wouldn't fit. I tried screwing them out with a small (mm) common head; that worked briefly: the screw heads turned but nothing happened. I've included some pics of the miscreants. Anybody have any suggestions? I've run out of "creative" solutions. (I'm posting in both the Bell&Ross section and Flame Free forum.)

Thanks, gang!

dave

If screw head turns in place maybe you should hold it with another hex screwdriver on one side and unscrew it on other side? :)

Dave, you have to hold both ends as on screw into the other.

Looks like it need allen key to unscrews it and I agree that most likely you will need to hold on one side and unscrew from the other.

AS already stated you do need to hold both...

Metric keys work fine...however if you only have one size compatible then I used to use a smll flat head screwdriver to hold one side in place then undo with the key...

Also if the thread has threaded...then regardless of above it will keep spinning... so you need to push from inside of the lug bars or use something like radico or blutac to pull threaded screw out...even if threaded like an AP it can still hold in place and need some coaxing out....

It was a common issue on the rep B&Rs ...I always repleaced mine with gen bars which were cheap and easily ordered online...

Plus you can never go wrong with a drop of 243 loctite (threadtite)
