You can use every Glidelock clasp you may have laying around. As i said, i used a Explorer II one wich i polished in the middle. Works and looks very good.

Here the result of my polishwork, i also removed the famous "Winner" engraving on the caseback. And pPPPed of course, like you. ;)

Actually, not GlideLock (GlideLocks are the longer ones from the Submariners)

The one from the Explorer you used, is called "EasyLink", and is used on the Daytona, the GMT-IIc, the Explorer II and Explorer I, as well as on the Yacht-Master I & II nowadays.
...To summarize it, it´s used on all the Rolex sport line, except on the Submariner and on the DEEPSEA Sea-Dweller. lol

Yeah, but I don´t have any good clasp laying around, that´s why I didn´t change mine :) ...and as they look the same from outside while on the wrist, I didn´t bother to source another clasp just yet :)

But it´s a future consideration of mine. Yours looks great tho! Congratulations!

Cheers,
Spirit.

Those pictures on the site are horrible and don´t do the Daytona any justice.

....as I´ve shown on the wristchecks, I´ve got an a21j version of this and I´m pretty much satisfied with the watch.
The dial is an attention-getter, and changes its hue according to light conditions, and the ceramic bezel is quite accurate in color. Watch is superlumed, but wrongly in GREEN, not as per GEN (gen is blue chromalight, the same blue lume as the Ceramic Subs and all the new Rolex sport line).
I´m enjoying it for sure!

Here are some pics in different angles (sunlight and shadows):

I have one of these with the frozen second hand and 21j movement, I gave it to my wife and she loves it. Very nice dial. The watch has a nice feel. Need to change the clasp too.

The 21J version looks nice. Nevertheless, since I couldn't live with a low beat & running center seconds hand version, I went for the latest A7750 28.800 VBH sec@6 version that some TD now carry.

Here are some wristies of my brand new toy. I also added a couple gen pics at the end.

Maybe it's just my enthusiasm, but please note:

1) The rehaut of my version is much more like gen, not so glaringly deep/thick as the 21J version - (actually, like the mostDaytona rep versions out there).

2) The ice blue effect on my dial is less "in your face" than the 21j version. It is a more subtle blue-ish effect. I think this is much more like gen?

3) Actually, I think this is an insanely accurate OOTB rep of a Daytona! I mean, will you please look at this?!!?!??? :D

Cheers :)

i too have recently received the new 7750 model of this watch an can attest that it is just gorgeous. i'm going on vacation next week to the Riviera Maya and intend to take some spectacular pics on the beach with this beauty so i will do a nice photo review when i get back.

i will say this though, and this is very encouraging for future new releases of noob ceramic rollies, (the 7750 version is a noob release) the bezel is obviously new and not something they are repurposing from an earlier release. The engravings, while not as crisp and deep as they should ultimately be are filled with a new more appropriate paint. it's not the lame flat off-white that they use in all the other ceramic bezels. it's actually kind of grayish, silverish and has a slight sheen in the right light. when i compare to my gen 116710LN bezel at normal viewing lengths it's extremely gen-like. could it finally be the death of the pPPP?
i freakin hope so. ;-)

some small minuses: they are using the white gold daytona case for this so the engravings between the lugs and the hallmarks are all incorrect. i also believe that the gen has a new slightly beefier case at the lugs so in the end there are some discrepancies with the case but lets be realistic, you are never going to encounter the gen irl unless you hang around at the polo club on sundays.

@thisismynick Nice one, that you have there. The iceblue effect of the dial depends on the light conditions around. On my 21J it goes from a very light greyish blue to a more flashy iceblue.

@pilworx The 7750 cases are thicker than the original one, arent they?

I would like to stop my second hand to 12, wich would be correct. Is there a tuto, wich enlightens the dark?

Regards!

yeah the case on the 7750 is just a smidge protruding where the case back screws down to accommodate the rotor of the 7750. while this is not like the gen and if you do a side by side you can notice this but on the wrist this is completely invisible imo. mid-case is proper size.

What did you use to remove the winner engraving?

I started sanding it before but scratched it loads and it's really deep.

On mine, the engraving was pretty light. I used a set of different nail files. The rawest first in direction of the brushed finish. Then go on to finer ones. No magic. :)

Ahhh nail file. That should keep it flatter.

I will try that.

Thanks! Rep points when I'm back at a pc.

Any tips on putting the chronometer / second hand out of service on a 21J?

At first glance on this 60k watch, a moving second hand (wich is the chronometer here) isn't very believable and every day it bugs me more and more...

Thank's for tips! :)

I sent mine to Wiz to be done, but he is currently out of action due to an injury.

It only cost me around 45 Euros though. Although it cost more in total as I also had it regulated and a gen crown and clark tube.
