About the ROO glass not being Sapphire

I've just read a really worrying statement on another post. Some guy scratched the glass of his ROO rather easily....WTF! And apparently his glass is not sapphire...I've also read that the glass of the 57th street is definitely NOT sapphire.
Most ROO are around 500 USD so... WE HAVE A PROBLEM.
I suggest investigating deeper into this issue and create a sticky with which ROO have sapphire and which don't so we as a community don't get scammed...
We can start gathering info on this post...

I can say the DIVER 3.5 appears to be sapphire (I've hit it regularly against door knobs with no physical reaction on the glass...so far)

You are right, I am not saying we could change that. What I am saying is that given the fact that some are sapphire and some aren't... we should have the info to make an informed decision... The whole point of having this forum and having TDs is that we know what we are getting....if you are ok with paying 500 bucks for mineral glass, it's ok... But know it first....most people are really surprised finding out scratches on their glass because they thought (at least I did) that all ROO sell with sapphire glass...if the info above is true (that the Grand Prix is mineral), then we have a problem because if you look at most TDs sites, they all state it is sapphire...so If a TD is giving false info....then what is left for us? If the TDs didn't know, then they should do something about it with the makers...

Unless your Td checks the sapphire with a tester they will not know either, factories are well know to switch movements, parts and crystals! Do you think the noob factory is gonna say, heh dealers this next batch is mineral crystal, hell no they will fit and say nada:wyliehelp:
If they save a buck they will, we all know the noob roos are over priced, with movements that still crap out, but they are the only factory making it and can demand what they want, and we will pay!

I won't pay that... ever... I might buy one m2m if its a good deal. But with the problems people have with them it doesn't seem to be worth the headache.

I am one of these unfortunate guys who bought a Safari and first day wearing it, a very light hit left a pretty deep scratch on the crystal. Pretty upset about it

The Mineral Glass problem is really irritating, I admit, and Noob has us by the balls until there is some competition in sec@12 production--it is a complete cartel/monopoly right now. I can buy Sapphire replacement crystals for the ROOs for $30-$40 wholesale. The problem is finding an affordable low-unit AR service. In my corner of the world, I have not found that. Noob will always use what parts they have on hand on whatever watch and the dealers will always advertise it the best way they can. So, maybe one run of Safari have some Sapphire crystal, and another run have a cheap Mineral crytal--Noob does not give a F because Noob has NO competition and can sell them all.

V5 and V4.1 look Sapphire from what I see.
It is the ROOs that are breaking bad.

Joe is modding my RBII with the works and upon inspection, said the crystal is mineral. He's sourcing a custom sapphire for it and will likely be able to source Saphires for most ROOs as long as he has correct measurements.

Wanna chime in, Joe?

Yes, go spend 35 bucks or so on a diamond tester.
