This was a project I took on for one of our own, bomber21. I knew what he wanted done, of course a relume... but also the installation of the overlay. I told him I had never done one before, but he took a chance with me, and it turned out well. My hat is off to BK, what a shitty job to have to align all those DWO's. Seemingly simple, but actually very difficult to get it aligned perfectly. With such a small window for error(pun not intended), its a bitch to get it just right. But, in the end, it turned out beautifully. If I had the money, I'd probably offer to buy it.

That DSSD is a torch! good job sir!

Thanks.

You know though, I actually pride myself in my work in the daytime. Even crappy relumes can look good in the dark... the glow hides flaws. I really like seeing relumes in the day time and up close. That's when you can really appreciate the quality of work.

Nice work!! How long does it take on average to do a lume job strodda?

From start to finish, 4-5 days, depending on what life has planned for me that day. A lot of it is just wait time. After disassembling the watch, I soak the indices, sometimes overnight. Then after reluming, I let the dial/hands cure for 24-48hrs... although the per manufactures suggestion, it takes up to 3 days for a full cure. I have never had a problem though.

Here are some macro shots. Especially under a loupe, using the ultrafine pigment makes a HUGE difference. By comparison, the fine stuff looks like sand was poured into the cups.

Here are a couple fine pigment relumes...

Great job with the lume dude! How did you get it that crisp on the 6, 9, and 12 triangle hour markers?

The dates are a bit left justified. It is hard for the first 1-2 dwos, then easy. There are tricks, use silicone RTV gasket material, gives you time. 2824 is exponentially harder

Thank you very much. Other than being very steady, the only tip I have is that I drop some right in the middle of the index and spread it to all corners... just enough to get it wet. Then when I drop more into the center, the surface tension(I think?) is lower so the lume flows to the corners.

Thanks :) From what I was told, its a noob, dont know version or anything else though. But from the same member, I will be doing the same mods to a BP he has being delivered.

Im not sure if that was a bad angle, so of the other shots look like it might be a tiny bit justified like you mentioned. When I took a video clicking through the wheel, it looked straight. Being the first time, and almost the last time I do a DWO swap, I was happy with almost perfect. I didnt want to chance messing with it more and screwing it up.
