Hi guys I bought a Tc LV Submariner recently, It's beautiful, I took it to my next door watch smith to replace the LV insert with genuine black insert I bought, when I went in evening to collect the watch, he says accidentally the bezel assembly with the crystal came off when he tried to remove the insert . He told he will fix it by next day. Next day I went the watch is ready but the date is not moving, but watch runs fine, he told me he tried several times the date wheel turns smoothly and changes fine when it's out of watch case, but once he puts it in case and closed, it stops working. He asked me few more days. But I am doubtful of his skills, contacted one of my friends in omega AD in Maldives where I live now. He has promised to help me. I am taking the watch to him today.

What do you guys think the problem may be? Date turns fine, out of case and doesn't once case is shut ? And I can feel little resistance when I turn the crown to change date, and watch runs smoothly, and date doesn't change even by moving hour hand.

Thank you for your time

The date wheel overlay is rubbing the underside of the dial. When the movement is installed into the case and you tighten the movement clamps, it pushes the movement even more against the rehaut.

This explains why the date jumps just fine out of the case. There is no additional pressure against the dial. Hope I explained it clearly.

Agree with Tonyy on this one, sounds like the dial feet may not be clamped securely too.

Tell him to push down on the datewheel overlay to make sure it is flat against the datewheel. Then use a tiny spacer between dial and movement holder if necessary, like a dial dot cut in a small piece

Thank you RSH, gave the watch today for repair, the watch maker seems knowledgeable, rarity in this country :) they are AD for omega, tissot, Rado, he told they regularly handle ETA s so hopefully they will do good job. They are doing it unofficially as they don't accept Rolex and moreover the replica : Nevertheless they ware surprised by the quality of TC Submariner ;) :D

Hi guys, they have fixed the datewheel problem (free of cost) I have asked them to service the movement too (costs 100 usd), is it worth? or i should have waited as it's a new TC movement?

And I will be buying gen on my next visit to Singapore, and TC Submariner will be my back up, I thought it's better to keep it in best shape.

Thank you for your time and inputs.
