A series of pics posted at On The Dash looks to have resulted in Antiquorum being caught out airbrushing pics of a watch for auction.

Pic from 2011 catalogue:

Pic supplied when Jeff Stein requested additional photos:

A sharp eyed reader noticed the difference in this post (since edited to point out the difference): http://chronocentric.com/forums/heuer/index.cgi?page=1;md=read;id=64677

And at 500% it becomes blatantly obvious:

Seriously Antiquorum, WTF?

EDIT: To prove the point here are the the catalogue pics from Antiquorum's three sales of this watch. The re-touched pic is the middle one note how the same damage miraculously reappears on the bezel in the sale from last week.

Village, of course
Hope they get sued for this.

Such a shame.

Well, considering it just sold again for the crazy price of $25,000 and back in 2011 when the doctored pic was used it sold for a bit over 3k probably not a lot of scope to sue but it's still very, very wrong. What needs to be asked now is, who took the pics and if it wasn't Antiquorum why didn't they notice?

And no BTW, no one can work out why the the hell a Ref 3646 Autavia sold for that kind of money. That is yet another question that begs an answer.

some CEO fat cat at tag heuer bought it to boost vintage heuer, to then again boost interesst in heuer, and thereafter tag heuer.

To be fair vintage Heuer Chronographs are pretty desirable and classic.

I plan on buying one soon before people start jumping on the bandwagon and prices start going up...

Not sure why this one is so special or why it sold for so much. It's definitely not the best looking of vintage Heuer Chronographs nor is it in the best condition.

Just check out Heuerville... I'm sure any of you would become a fan after looking at that site.

well, you could say, that it would make it less amazing that noone complained about the photoshopped pics.
If you were to plan a price boost, you would need a beautifully patina watch, not a beat up wreck. (the difference isn't that big between the two)
now they didn't have the exact watch they needed, so they made the pics look right, and sold it to themselves, making it look right, and given that the seller and the buyer were connected, noone was surprised about the ugly extra marks.

sounds like a conspiracy theory, but at least one that makes sense.

I need to sleep more.... :shlug:

Sorry for letting the truth get in the way of a good story.
I wonder if any of the big watch blogs will have the balls to run with this story?

Not the first time that Antiquorum has been in the spotlight for this sort of thing. Interesting article here from the Wall Street Journal.

N.

And Stacy Meichtry, author of that story has now been alerted to this thread.
I am determined that this will NOT be swept under the carpet, it's a scandalous act (by whom remains to be seen) and we need to ensure this kind of thing NEVER happens again!

Cant beleive this watch got sold 3 different times since 2009 and i cant beleive it sold for 25k this time. This had to have gotten passed around with secret code messages in it. Lol.
