Gloinc is fine for many things, watches are not one of them unfortunately.

Don't order from the site tho, PM Offshore and he'll send it in a envelope, lots cheaper that way.

Ah, didn't know that was possible. Thanks for the info.

I have been wanting to try his stuff but the shipping has been prohibitive.

If it packs up under 20mm thick and less than 100grm it can go at letter rate so lume is in that group, you could probably get a set of oilers in there as well at a guess. The economy drivers will ship that way as well from memory, that makes for a very cheap set of quality jewellers drivers.

So thats what you use. Quality is awesome, and something I am looking to achieve. Thanks,!

BTW, what is nocti?

Its NoctiLumina.com. Its great stuff but due to the contract restrictions, its only available for sale in the states.

Correct. Another way to do it, is to keep the hands right side up and run the oiler along the bottom of the hand. I don't know what the scientific process is called, but the small openings will "suck" lume up into them and perfectly fill all the gaps.

Is it some Bernoulli principle of sucking air? :)

?
I think that is the surface tension of the lume mix that you are referring to.

Ok, many thanks mate. Looking into those webcams now too, didn't realise they were so good for macro work. 720p video too. Nice.

Cwaz...u mentioned u used acetone to remove the old lume...how? I thought you had to remove the indices first and scrape the lume out to keep from damaging the dial?

remove indices, soak in acetone.

This is something that is possible with about 80% of the dials out there. Others like the polar explorers, you cannot do such methods and which is why VAC and others charge upwards of 160$ for such a job. The old lume needs to be meticulously scraped off the indice while being held down. VERY dangerous.

I did an exp2 polar the other day and the results were not as good because I could not get 100% of the old lume out of the painted bucket indice. Not to mention, the black is enamel paint, which is easily dissolved by the binder that is in the lume mixture.

It was just bad and I feel really bad about it, so no more of those pieces for me..

Cwazy, mate, when you apply lume on hands, do you tape the opposite side of the hands to get a flat surface?

nope! if your lume mixture is the proper ratios, it'll dry smooth and perfect.

You could probably acetone those then use a matte black spray enamel to repaint the markers. Would take some experimenting to find one that looks just right though
