Spammers and forums.

Over the years, I've been a member on perhaps eight or ten forums. Not all about watches, and I've been a mod on two of them.:cheers:

Time and again, a question pops into my head that I keep wanting to ask, but that I expect to get flame-grilled for. Well, I'm feeling brave today, so I'll ask it.:hehehe:

Why are spammers posts not simply deleted after they are banned?

Surely, if they are just left there, they have achieved their target of being read by all and sundry?

There must be a good reason that I just can't see.:wyliehelp:

Mate if you read the things you would see that if all those "left up" posts you are on about are the real deal we have been hit by a gang of Chinese goat salesmen spamming us day and night for the last few years. Those posts have been rewritten for our amusement and to piss off/embarrass said spammers.

We remove all links to spammer's email/web but quite often enough company information is left in for the thread to show in any search conducted on the name which doesn't look good for the spammers apart from that it's simply a forum tradition and a bit of fun.
