Well, I haven't had a problem of my own, but everyone keep saying that it's a hit or miss. Many say that they'd rather not get one because of that risk. That makes me limit my purchase of 7750 to a minimum :/ What is your opinion?

Dealers are selling these watches everyday. Members are buying them all the time. The 7750 is an excellent movement. Some with modified seconds at 12 are less reliable due to added gear on gear friction. But the 7750 is very reliable.

I did a ton of reading before buying a rep with an A7750 sec@9 and was very comfortable doing so.

The watch has been perfect and, when I took it apart to have a bit of a look, the movement looked as well made as my A2836s.

My take on the A7750 is:
Buy a sec@9 with confidence,
buy a sec@12 with care and,
buy a sec@6 drunk!

Thanks for the input Alex! My problem is that I'm really into the daytona prohunter which is a sec@6. Is there anything I can do to minimize the risk of flopping on my choice?

secs @ 6 is a 7750 movement being used for something totally different than it's supposed to do. there is a newer version than the old time bomb, but as I understand, nothing that works as well as 7750 with sec @ 12. at least not yet. I believe Domi has asolution for the time bomb.

A7750 sec@9 movement is a very well made and reliable movement, with some proper care and servicing, it can last you for a long time.

sec@12 although it is an improved version but still it is not as reliable as sec@9, so this will be more like a hit or miss movement and require servicing and modding to improve the movement reliability.

sec@6 forget it not even worth mention for the current version.
Thanks for the great input Carlton! How often should the sec@9 be serviced you think? (Every year, every 2nd year, 5 year?)

Takk igen Trksh-bzr! Come to think of it, I think I've read a review on some work Domi did on an sec@6 (I believe it was the daytona even). I'll be sure to consider having the work done if/when it's needed :)

So my take on it is this:

Lots of people complain about the 7750 sec@6 breaking down, however, we don't know how many get sold and run fine for years. There are enough failures for the movement to get a bad reputation, however, we can't be sure (as far as I know) if 100% of the movements fail, 75%, 50% or 10%...

What is pretty much for sure is the failure rate is higher than the other versions of the 7750, but what are you prepared to risk?

If you absolutely must have a Daytona with sec@6 and the version you want is 7750, you need to weigh up the risks and decide what is acceptable to you. Will you be really pissed off if it dies after a day? Will you be really pissed off if it dies after a week or a year? If the answer to any of these is 'yes', then I'd keep my hand in my pocket and fall in love with something else!

The Daytona reps at the moment aren't great due to using the 7750, it is a deeper movement than gen so the case is all wrong.

For my 2 cents, go for something else!

A watch seller will recommend you every 3 to 5 years depends on usual but imo only service when there is problem with the movement.

By then something has worn or broken. Do you only service your car when it breaks?

No because imo car and watch have slight different in it, when a car have problem it might endanger life but for watches worse come to worse, the watch stop working at all. Can still get it fixed or maybe just swap in a new movement in it.
