Picked up this watch in the sale section earlier this week on a whim to replace my recently sold custom 1675. I've been into the vintages for so long I'm not up on the 16710. Stick dial, no lug holes, not the BP... What do I have?

Thanks!

Cartel it looks like. I had one once but the lugs were drilled....was a killer 16710.

I had feeling it was a cartel. It's actually not awful

I have a similar one I got years ago I'm selling, and yes... It's wokky :)
But it does have a gen Swiss 2836 in it. I don't know what it is, or who made it.

You'd think with the popularity the 16710 would have been ripped much better by now. Thankfully the black ceramic and 40 and 42mm Explorers were done very well

Oh yeah it's definately not a BP. I hd a BP and sold it the same day. A true c&r. It's not what I'd expected in the flesh. This older cartel is better. I hope they do a nice BLNR soon. Very soon

WTH are ya'll calling a "stick dial"?

The "II" on the dial from GMT-Master II... it´s just two sticks, and not seriffs, closed like a "square" on the other dials

Mine for example, is a GMT-Master II "box dial" or "square dial", his is a "stick dial".. :)

Here are some of the GMT text dial variations that can be found along the years...

It was a GMT-Master ll instead of a GMT-Master II.

ll vs II

Some people feel the stick dial indicated the watch had a 3186 cal movement but this is completely untrue. Sticks came in the last years of production and collectors tend to pay a premium for them but it's all hype.

In case anyone is curious, I have seen reports on TRF that service dials for 16710's are in fact "stick dials" now , as that was the dial of last production for that model. So having one of these (lug holes and stick dial) can pass accuracy muster as a service dial.

I'd suspected that was the case. I've had a gen 16710 in the past with lug holes. Very nice watch.

I have the one pictured above on my wrist and it looks the part.

Anyone care to comment on accuracy? Maybe I've missed something

GBOAC,
I like your watch but don't know anything about it.
What's the case thickness like? It does have lug holes?
What's the bezel construction like, have you pulled it and does it fit gen inserts?
Those are the kind of things I look for with Gmt's. really would be nice to find one that didn't need a ton of expert modding...like wouldn't it be great if TC made a Gmt in this series? The Bk put together sapphire Gmt using a certain explorer case looks to be the best way to go, barring a transformer Gmt..as far as sapphire Gmt's go.

Hey woof,

I'm pretty sure it's one of the cartel GMTs. Not the easiest one but one of the later version. Case thickness is mostly there and I'm not sure about the bezel. It looks the part but fiddling with the spring and putting it all back together isn't really something I want to do right now.

The only real problem at first glance is that the GMT hand triangle is a tiny tiny tiny bit too narrow. This is really nitpicking it too.
