168000 Just Arrived (Picture Heavy)

Hey guys, I bought this watch last week from forum member shotgun.

This is a Super Franken with the following spec :-

CASE FROM ST WITH LUGHOLES
DIAL GENUINE

HANDS AND DWO FROM TC (HANDS MATCHING WITH DIAL)

ETA 2824 H4 HEIGHT CROWN POSITION

I literally received it an hour ago, and cannot stop looking at it, it's such a great piece, the photo's don't do it justice, but anyway here's some shots i just took.

I paid Euro 900 for it.

I spotted it within 5 minutes of the sale going up, and immediately knew i had to have it.

I am building the same watch....I have had it in que for many months. I struggled with doing a matte dial 16800 but as stated in Shoguns P) thread....this transitional model sub is all over the map BIG TIME. Literally 5 or 6 dial combos, various date font changes...the uber tranny one year only 168000. I decided the gloss WG surround dial like this one.

I am curious about where those gen spring bars came from? I gotta have those.

P.S. for those wanting to build this the ST3035 case is no more...but the 3135 case from ST is drilled as well. Also depending on year, the gen endlinks are with 501 or 593...w/93150 bracelet. I have a pair of 593's which I gather is correct for a 16800/168000 year, 1988-89. Also the ST bezel kit is absolutely the best aftermarket bezel I have ever seen, period.

Is this a mod i should do ? The bezel is quite stiff (compared to my ther subs, but i never tried a gen).

Where can you get ST parts ?

What DW is this?
If i were you i would also try to get my hands on a gen bracelet and clasp to go with this baby, it would make this the ultimate franken..

Always wanted to make one of my own, but with my work i don't have enough time to do a project like this, i would have to buy one already done... If you sell it one day... lol

So i have a choice, i was going to get a TC LV sub, but now i'm thinking a gen strap on this baby instead.

Is the gen strap a decent upgrade ?

Does anyone know where i can safely (seems a lot of risk on fleebay) source a gen strap ?

Check on the rolex forum, or yes ebay, and if you have doubts about the strap, post pics and ask our specialist members to help you with this...
but yes a gen strap would be really great on this baby!! it's something i would try to find, great investisment...
