Hey Guys!

I want to improve the overall look of my rollie divers, so i decided to paint the bezel numbers with the genlike platinum finish.

What i have ready to go:

My beloved DSSD and Sub C,
Model Master / Testor enamels flat black, flat white, steel,
Model Master / Testor enamel thinner,
Model Master / Testor sealer

So let's go!

A few days ago, i had my first try to do some paint. I used enamel and thinner from Rewell's model range, but it turned out to grayish and i didn't like the results. First step will be, to take off the paint i messed up. Easy job to do, i will just scratch out the old and original enamel with my scalpell.

The new paint will be done in three steps. Firstly i will put on a very thin layer of white on the bare ceramic. Next, i will mix up the pilworx recipe platinum color and apply the second (most important) layer in lovely platin. Then i will seal the paint, scratch the mess off and DONE.

All this will be posted up here in real time. I hope, you have fun and a nice time watching! Enjoy!

You know what? The factory wich will be able one day, to engrave this depth and platinumisize it right away will rule the market!

Looks awesome genlike in depth and texture, but it's black.

TIP: TO KEEP THE ENGRAVING AS DEEP AS POSSIBLE, I JUST REVERSED THE 2-8 MIXTURE RULE - MEANS I TOOK 8 DROPS OF WHITE AND 2 DROPS OF ENAMEL THINNER. THE ENAMEL SETS DOWN BETTER AND THE ENGRAVING WILL BE DEEPER IN THE END. I hope... :D

I figured out, that the enamel is very quick dry enough, to clean up the contures with my scalpel knife. So i gave myself a try on painting on the second layer with the steel - thinner - mix. Looks quite good!

I also painted the logo engraving of the Sub clasp as it should be in black.

Back again! Yesterday latenight i put on the sealer and today morning, i cleaned off the contures again.

I wear my Sub now a few hours and don't feel it's quite right. What in my opinion is missing, is this bright (whitey) look. It looks very grey and dark now.

What i can say and what i actually like very much, is the deeper looking engravement! Maybe i just have to give myself another try with the color mixture. As seen above, i had'nt the chance to get the steel from Testor, bit from Modelmaster wich should be the same, but maybe and when i compare to pilworx pics is not.

So i gave myself a second try and although i don't know why, the result this time is just awesome!

In real live it looks even better - to scratch out the chinese chicken shit is a very good step, i think. The wngraving looks crisp, deep and after paintwork very very worthy!

I will do it again with my Sub and will come up with the final photos, very soon!

i think the issue with the "greyness" is because your initial coat of white is too thin and the black ceramic is not completely covered. either make the initial white coat thicker or do more than one coat, probably the latter.

as i'm sure you now know, the more paint you put in there the more you fill up the engravings and the less gen it looks. it's amazing how super thin the gen platinum coating is.

I also thought about that. But even the thin first layer gave a very bright white look - the testor / model master enamels are quite good.maybe i just got the wrong mixture of steel and thinner. Or the model master steel is not exactly öike the testors one. But i like this second result.
