It was me.

...Luthier, they are different. It´s not the same.
The clasp on the Leather Daytonas is held in a different way, and they usually are a bit different in shape too, at least on the reps. That will depend on the model you have (model/year) also.

You can´t see it here, but at the 6 o´ clock part of the strap, the clasp is held by a double-sided screw, on 2 little "handles". This is what makes it possible to be attached to the leather strap.

If needed, I can post a more detailed pic later on.

Cheers,

Looks like a different style clasp at that too - my meteorite rep on bracelet has a clasp with a fold over securing bar (like sub/exp/ym, except it snaps in with a big button to the rest of the clasp instead of being a tincan foldin, and has ez link on it) - your strap one there looks like the milgauss/datejust clasp with no foldover securing bar, just the little popup piece in the front to release it, and looks like it secures with the hook & bar, rather than the button style, yes?

Yes, mate. You are correct :)
The clasp on mine is different, it is like the Milgauss/Datejust indeed. But the problem is that some of the Daytonas reps are coming with that clasp, so, it´s better to check very carefully the QC pics and see what clasp comes with the watch ordered before.

Although this clasp is similar to the Milgauss, the way it´s made is different from the other clasps I have seen before, not being able to be used on a bracelet.

For the OP tho, I think what matters is not actually the clasp itself, but the leather strap that will go into it.
The best option for that is to have a leather strap custom made, with the size for your wrist and the clasp together, and allowance for some sizing/adjustments.

Keep in mind that the Leather Daytonas have some "half-endlinks" near the case that CAN´T be removedon the reps, so if you´re getting a metal bracelet version, you can use a leather strap, but will be missing these half-endlinks that make the watch looks good, and if you get a leather version, you CAN´T put a bracelet on it.

the lugs are a different design too - the leather strap models have "horns" for lack of a better term on the bottom, like the yachtmaster/yachtmaster 2 case. Some people on TRF say this is to prevent the caseback from resting on surfaces when you put it down and getting deformed (soft gold). Strap design gold datejusts have this too.

These "horns" actually doesn´t have anything to do with the leather versions themselves, but to the material.

The Daytonas in Stainless steel or Two-tone doesnt have them, while any full gold version have them. Being that in Bracelet or leather.
...As the Leather Daytona only exists in full gold, all of them will have these "horns" on the case, but the reps mimic that just as good. :)

I never noticed that before - thanks! I dunno what that thread I saw on TRF was thinking then. Someone was going on about how it was a design thing to prevent the caseback from contacting surfaces when you lay the watch down (since on a strap it would be resting flat on the caseback) to prevent damage to the caseback. Which didn't make sense to me because
a) they have it on SS models too (YM)
b) youd be damaging the case instead, which costs a lot more to replace

and now..

c) it's on the bracelet models too
