A Marine in dress blues is not allowed to have, handle or hold an umbrella.
The pretender doesn't care.

(1). Presidential etiquette requires such moves.

(2). Considering all the abuse and racist attacks this guy has taken from the Tea Party fringe and the Republicans ("The Party of No," dedicated to "ensuring Obama will be defeted in 2012," ad nauseum), the guys done an OK job, esp. when compared to 'ole Bushie (W), who gave us two wars (one of which was really UNNECESSARY and thousands of KIA and WIA). Just the facts.

Oh, BTW: The AF general is out of line and an ignoramus regarding what presidential military details have done w/ past presidents. I know; I saw them. And, these Marines are NOT officers, they're EMs (Enlisted Men). Finally, Obama has done more to care for the war vets (as had First Gal Michelle) than anything the draft dodger W did during the Iraqi war.

Not too mention Bush also gave us the deregulation of banks, which brought the housing bubble, the stock market crash, the bail out of too big to fail banks, and the first and largest TARP program. Or as it's all been called, "The Great Recession". He brought the world economy to the brink of disaster. Now that Obama has righted the ship of State and got the economy back on course, that's all but forgotten.

Let's not forget "the Patriot Act", Guantanamo Bay and, it was on his watch that September 11 happened while his administration was not paying attention to the known intel that an attack was being planned.

And the Tea Party, Bachman wackjobs talk about impeachment of this President. What a joke.

"According to Marine Corps regulations, not even the President of the United States can request a Marine to carry an umbrella without the express permission of the Commandant of the Marine Corps."

Let's not forget that the President is "Commander-in-Chief" of all the armed forces of the United States. The Marine Commandant works UNDER and for the President.

And McInerney is an idiotic, long retired general who's a regular on Fox News who tows the FAUX News Party line. He's as believable as Rush Lmbaugh.

Not sure how any of the above comments have anything to do with the appropriateness or inappropriateness of having a Marine in dress uniform hold an umbrella shielding the President from the sun. I don't really have an opinion one way or the other - it's meaningless. But I'm not sure how Bush has anything to do with it.

I love how so many believe that Bush was a cowboy idiot and Obama is such an intellectual. Yet in 6 years Obama has yet to figure out how to rectify any of the damage that idiot Bush inflicted. So which is it: Bush is an idiot like you all have continually told us, or Bush is an evil genius as your arguments would allude? Pick a theme and stick with it please.

Regarding Banking de-regulation: that was Barney Frank's doing. The Republicans on his Banking committee mostly voted against it. Bush signed it into law because, in true Congressional fashion, it was attached to other good and deserving Bills. Do a little research before taking MSNBC at their word (and, for the record, I don't watch Fox and rarely listen to talk radio - I think for myself and actually seek the truth).

Now that the "Blame Bush" strategy is losing its legs, the new strategy is to
A). Deflect criticism of Obama by ignoring the criticism and any actual merit it may contain and talk about how Bush was the worst and most evil leader in US history,
and B). Call anyone who criticizes President Obama a racist who only cares about money - only their own money.

Sycophants. Bad on either side of the aisle.

That's too easy. Bush is still an idiot. Dick Cheney was the evil genius. :hehehe:

As the conservatives love to say, "It happened on his watch". Why was it NOT Bushes fault when every thing that happens on Obama's watch is his fault. Even what some low ranked idiots in the IRS does is his fault. Remember?

When Congress refused to fund the necessary security at our embassies and people died, it's still his fault. Benghazi's such a joke. Reminds me so much of the Whitewater scandals of Bill Clinton. After 4 years and millions of dollars the only thing Ken Starr could pin on him was a silly blow job.

Here you go, Federal spending vs. tax revenue by state.

Red states take, blue states give. Few exceptions. Liberal NE states get soaked.

http://taxfoundation.org/article/federal-taxes-paid-vs-federal-spending-received-state-1981-2005

Listen, Thanks for the Numbers you have, but they don't prove a thing except paint a picture of "Red States" not paying their fare share and Minorities and "Blue States" paying the Bar tab. ABSOLUTELY INCORRECT! 87% of the Democratic Vote came from Blue States with the Highest Unemployment in the Country and the Highest Welfare numbers EVER IN HISTORY. All they have to do is promise to keep the checks coming and their destiny will be Sealed. And that precipitates your train of thought that the poor Blue States pay their fare share. My friend, its the Complete opposite and I don't care what kind of numbers you can show me. How can a State with extremely high unemployment pay their fare share with the Government sending them Checks? I call bullshit on the numbers (not you, despite the wise ass coment you left me)....So, heres what I would like to do, since it seems we are getting off on the wrong foot and im sure you are a good guy, lets start over and concentrate on our hobby here.....Whatdya say?

Wow, you do not understand the progressive tax system. States with people who make more money pay more in taxes (you know until they are very rich). So states like New York with much higher incomes and higher costs of living pay much more in federal taxes. States like Missouri, fewer people are in the higher tax brackets.

The 47% are mostly republicans.

The unemployment situation is another missunderstanding on your part. Most unemployment benefits are completely self contained within the state. The people pay into the state unemployment fund then draw from it.

Any other remedial economics lessons you need?
