Hi, I just wanted to say that I spotted 2 replica rolex watches in a houston jewlery store and the owner was speechless when I told him. A daytona and a faded pvd coated dssd. I never saw a dssd pvd coated rolex so I asked him if I could see it and I asked for a loupe after I noticed the off center 12 o' clock dot and the 10, and his face dropped to a humble position when I said they were fake. He said he bought the dssd in California at a gen dealer and then from that the coverup began. He was called out on those two watches by me. He said how do I know they are fake and I told him and also made a $1000 bet with him, because I knew for sure they were fake. He would not open them because he knew he would lose, it was funny to me. After a long conversation he said he wanted my number so he could call me like on the show pawn stars and bring me in for a $100 every time I tell him if the watch people are selling are fake, so I took him up on the offer. Lol:rofl:

It is not one of the stores inside the jewelry exchange, I hope. ;)

There's a jeweler by my house that has fakes. But he doesn't have them on display. He offered to show them to me one day when I went to have a battery swapped on my F1.

I hate these kind of scumbags with a passion. Passing of reps for gen money really makes my blood boil. Brings our hobby into such a bad light even though we would never ever considering to do the same.

If the jewelry store owner still has those watches on display for sale, then you know he's not a victim. If that's the case, he should be outed. It's worse than putting a rep on ebay. People would almost never suspect a jewelry store of selling a rep.

Houston fakes

Well , when I said they were fake he quickly took the dssd out and said its not for sale. Then he asked if The daytona his father wore for 15 years was fake and I said open the back because it was a close rep then he took that one out of the display case to the back. I was cool with him, we bs about watches, then he asked if i could tell if all his watches were real. Those were the only two reps there. The place is next to stogies cigar shop.

I had a similar experience at a local shop. They were somewhat new in town at the time and had several used mid level pieces including an older Tag. I looked at it and quietly/politely told her it was fake (asking about $500 for it). She was very surprised and said she had no idea. She asked how I knew and I bs'd a little then left.

The watch was gen, but by her not adamantly defending such I gathered she was no expert and not someone I wanted to trade with. Her son and husband were there too and neither had anything to offer.

Jewelry store scams.......

:thud:Here in L.A. county, the Koreatown area of the big city, I have seen and have been witness to this sort of blatant fraud. I can very much tell the reps/fakes because they always never have a price hang tag of any sort. When you ask about it they sort you out first from head to foot before entering the price on a handheld calculator and turning that device around so you can read their asking price. None of them were ever in the hundreds. Almost always in the couple of thousands. Yup, they size you up first! However the genuine real McCoys always have a price tag. Always. Heck, they even display the fakes in genuine boxes. Kinda adds more credance to the item.[they believe] What crooks of the highest degree. And some are even mom & pop businesses with the 'obligatory' son or daughter looking on! Geez, what has the world come to.
