Looking to buy my first Submariner!

Hi there, I'm looking to buy a standard black submariner, and there's a reasonable amount of choice under the $150 mark (Although I'm from the UK)

The two I'm mainly looking at:

http://silix-prime.so/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=116_205_214&products_id=1988

http://www.timeshops.net/12855-xfro5092-rolex-submariner-ceramic-bezel-black-ult-noobfactory-asian-2813

(This is the only place I can find a noobmariner for around this price so I assume it can't be bought for any less anywhere else?)

Is it worth over double the price? I plan on using it everyday as my main watch.

My main concern is that the Silix one might have an awkward strap to adjust (being cheaper and knowing the $35 special has a poor strap) as I will need to due to my 6" wrist. Also if it's the same quality but just more money because it's black or just not on sale, I'd just choose the $35 to save some money and buy a different strap.

All I'm really looking for is reliable watch that I can wear everyday and one that I can adjust the strap to fit without too much hassle.

If there is any better options let me know and would like to know your thoughts on this. :)

I would rather keep it cheaper, but if it's worth the extra I'm prepared to pay it as it will become my main watch.

Cheers.

It's always worth the extra!

The $65 Silix is woky (search wok for definition).

The Timeshop ceramic is a definite step up.

I'm going to guess it has nothing to do with delicious stir-fry then? :(

Be aware if reliability is what you are after go with a quartz gen. Rep automatic watches generally do not do well being banged around eg: sports, dropping off night stand, whacking into door frames etc. Automatics in general are more fragile so keep your expectations in line with your planned use. Good luck.

Wok means that the rehaut is nor perpendicular to the dial.

I'd stay away from the Silix. Try Trevor I think he has a black noob in the $150 range with the 25j movement. It's always worth a couple extra bucks to get better quality and accuracy.

I understand automatic movements are a lot more fragile. I currently own a BR01, which was also my first rep, and always try to be as careful as possible with it. :)

I could probably let the rehaut problem slide, it's mainly if there's any glaring problems like the wrong colour or misspelled words. I don't plan on trying to pass it off as genuine, as long as it looks solid and pretty much genuine (to the average guy that I am :D) from the quick glance at my hand when checking the time, It's okay. :)

Have you looked at TC 's offering ? There so many better options for this watch. Specially if you plan on keeping it for a long time. A serviced ETA will last a long time.

Thanks, I just emailed Ryan about a submariner yesterday, now I just wait for a reply. :)

Also, whilst I'm here, does anyone know what the deal is with UK Customs at the moment? as I just read some pretty scary stories about UK Customs confiscating orders etc.

Cheers. :cheese:
