Ok, no beating around the bush. Reps are great, we all love them. But I wanna hear wat you DON'T like. Tell me your gripes!

I'll start. The finish. It could be that rough edge of a bracelet, the screw that just won't tighten...

GO!

I agree, the finish is never quite perfect. Rough edges, blemish on dial, dirt on markers, imperfectly cut hands...

For me it's always the biggest tell. The perfectionof finish and QC is just not there.

Pubes in the movement.

Sorry couldn't resist.

I agree, the finish is a gripe, but this is something that can be addressed just like most things, flaws/tells etc. Its the off things that make this hobby for me, I love fixing things, frankening my reps :)

My biggest gripe are CGs. Ya tr noob is great but the pin and the inside cut outs drive nuts. And how the sides of a a hand might not be painted or might have a little lume hanging on the side

Stripped screws - whether they hold a crown to the tube, strap to lugs, a buckle together, a bezel or caseback on, or even on the movements themselves... yeah. Stop using tin foil as a base for screws, damn it.

Edit: Oh, and dealers that 'replace' watches in QC by showing different angles of the same watch.

Edit2: Oh yeah, and sh1t not being straight or aligned - here's looking at you bezel pearls and hour markers. Seriously.

The cg's are def up there... but the pins coming out on the bracelets and inserts not fitting right on Rolex.... then there's always the dwo alignment that really eats my ass!

I'm still not comfortable wearing them with pride.
I never intend to pretend I can afford a 5000 plus watch, but I don't know... I feel awkward.

They are amazing watches for the money on their own and the latest ones I've received have clean, perfect working movements. Where else can you get an automatic chronograph watch with colorless AR sapphire , superlume and other features for less than $250? Most of them I could also get them waterproof pretty easy and with some work on the bracelet it makes a world of difference.
What pisses me off is that they never take it past that good enough stage. They make a good 316L case and other quality components but there's always that one cheap component, a stripped screw or a low grade steel crown tube that f***cks everything up.
Another thing that pisses me off is that on some of these super-reps that sell for a premium they don't include certain features that can be done at a low cost from the factory. For example on the Diver, they have the transfer pad print for the dial, all they have to do is add $3 worth of Luminova in the tray instead of $0.5 shitty paint to have a superlumed watch, instead I have to pay $200 to have it relumed.
I don't think there are a lot of bad things left on the latest super-reps, and usually those are small things that could easily be rectified by the factory in the production stage for a few extra bucks, I would have no problem paying those extra bucks instead of spending hundreds when a damn $0.01 screw fails.

The fact that I can't fix half the stuff that needs to be fixed. And the fact that the watch has to be shipped somewhere to get it fixed since I can't find a local repair guy. And if the somewhere is a foreign country, I have to put false info on the customs form. Then wait and sweat it out for a month or two while it is fixed and travels in both directions.

Oh, and as I have said a number of times, that I won't wear them outside my house. Which is why I am down to three. Two, eventually.

Oh, and finding parts. So much incompatability. There is no reason for the makers to standardize on some of the components.

Example: screw bars for Panerai style watches. I have seen a variety of thread sizes, and both the bars and the threaded lug holes are easily stripped. I finally gave up and replaced them with big fat spring bars.

I have a mini fiddy from Mark that has very short lugs. This, combined with the caseback's sharp edges resulted in my shredding a new strap from Bronzy. I have to wear it with a strap that's no thicker than 3mm if the strap will survive.
