5514 Comex Project Complete

Finally got all the parts for my 5514 Comex sub assembled. It started with a prototype 5514 midcase made by HH on RWG. I was one of 4 lucky people to get one. Awesome case. Working HE valve. Superb effort. Gen insert, gen tropic 19 crystal, TC tube and gen crown (will toss on a 702 when I can find one). Gen cal 1520 movement with Yuki dial/hands.

It was a bitch to align the stem though. Had to put in a thin spacer between the case and dial. But overall, happy with the results. I may upgrade to an NDT dial at some point. Anyhow, deciding on a strap/bracelet now.

Engraved markings are excellent on case as well. Has the correct 4,xxx,xxx serials that are unique. Great attention to detail.

Doesn't take tremendous skill here. No major modification required. Just a steady hand and patience. Like a fancy mechanno set.

Finally found an appropriate strap. Horween shell cordovan with contrast stitching. I can finally wear it now.
