Yup. Still think it will be difficult making any luminor look like a classy dress watch. And with the diamond, its gotta be a dress watch.

I can never understand Rolex putting stones on their sport watches....

Awesome! Thank you for the love :)

Not only do I think its a classy and beautiful watch, it is and will always be one of a kind.

My only problem now is figuring out what to do with the other 6 diamonds.

Very interesting project and i'm sure you could do a 'Father-Son' kind of watch..

that way your son can also have his own watch..and what more, a watch that his dad built for him..

Google 'IWC Father Son Pilot watch'..

Here is another dial Im goofing around with in preparation for the build. This was a sterile Luminor dial with sec@9. I filled in everything except the 3/6/9/12 and then drilled a hole for a diamond.

Very nice Strodda ! Are you going to lume behind the diamond ?

Ive always wondered what that would look like.

Also what color lume are you planning on using?

I probably won't lume behind the diamond, I would like it to remain as transparent as possible. And I'll be using straight c3 so the indexes are white.

Damn, now that you've mentioned it, I might try luming behind the diamond... If it turns out like you would think, it would probably look damn good in the dark.

Before you actually do it you might want to do some mock up test though.

I do think it will look cool but i have some reservations as to whether the diamond will let the UV thru to charge the lume properly.

And if it works out good, i was thinking maybe blue or aqua lume behind the diamond will set it off nicely in the dark with the rest of the watch glowing green.

Just ran across your project here, very nice although instead of the diamond you could even use your sons birthstone? You would actually have several choices of stones and colors you could go with, you can look here to see what I mean. http://www.americangemsociety.org/october-birthstones

I see your in the DFW area. My father was a jeweler/watchmaker in Arlington all my life. I too have some custom dials I designed on there way from Athaya also, he does some nice work.

Thanks for the idea. For now the gem is on hold. I received the dials, they're very nice but the type is centered, so there isn't much room like in my Photoshop version. Also, what I forgot is the PJR dial was a larger diameter because I originally wanted it for a Luminor case... So it won't fit in a Radiomir.

I have already painted it black and filled in the lettering white. I'll either keep that or go with a solid dark brown, but no vintage look. And I'll probably end up using the big domed Jackson case, if it ever shows up. Still a full polish, just not classy like what I had wanted.

Here is the dial as it sits. Still not sure what Im going to do with it in the end. For now, it just sits as I stare and think. The cases arent even close to arriving, so I have some time before I need to make a final decision.

If I was going to put a diamond on the dial still, where should it go? Above/below "PJR", off to the left like a sec@9... or just keep it gem-less?
