:howdy: fellas,

After much thought I decided to gather some more parts for my 9401 Snowflake. Originally inspired by jmb, then Bonesey built one that set RWI on FIRE for the blue Flake. Finally re-inspired by my friend civic who located a dial maker over at HF and woof*, also my friend and DFW Texas brethren, who hooked me up with the insert vendor. Thanks to Shannon for a BUNCH of gen pics for comparison...Without further ado, My Flake

Orginal Parts List,

Cartel 5513 w/93150 bracelet and 580 end links
Clark tropic plexi crystal
jmb vended (same maker as Yuki dials) problematic faking blue 9401 Tudor dial
jmb vended Snowflake hands
gen 704 Rolex crown
Ofrei plexi pearl
jmb "gentley aged" case and bracelet fauxtina
built by jmb and has a
Rick914 relume

Additional Parts List,

ETA 2784 (eBay in a off brand head)
PVirus 9401 dial (Homage Forum maker)
Classic Watch Parts Tudor Military Submariner Insert
Ofrei plexi pearl
Yuki Tudor engraved rotor

* it appears that this Classic insert HAS a plexi pearl in it...I think

So HOW will be my tweak man....

Looking for a set of gen 380b endlinks and then I am DONE....this has been a n epic quest for me and 100% life keeper. Thank You to all who helped contribute to my WIS disease. :)

Are you using the 21j cartel 5513 or the higher priced clone? Id like to go the cheaper route but dont know if the cases are the same.

Using the a2836 Cartel 5513. But that 21j version is not going to really save you much in the end really. If you go black dial, maybe.....

I think I am about done now...A year long quest on much knowledge gained on the greatness of Tudor.
This Snowflake has really gathered some steam in the last year in its popularity. I scores this nickel ETA2784 on eBay, Yuki rotor...the insert is damn near the perfect color. The dial is a tad too dark (either too bright or too dark, someone need to get the color right fast).
I learned that the letter of the law for the mid/late 70's-early 80's 9411's is this 2784 and the 9401 is a 2776. If you are patient and search deep, you can score these on eBay cheap....

Thanks to all who were involved and shared their ideas and knowledge with me..

Thanks Randy....I scored it out of a no name brand from eBay....its a 2784 w/DW mech removed which makes it a 2776 more or less...without being a 2776. Paid $40 for the watch and jmb serviced it...way cool. If I ever wanna make a 9411 out of it the calibre will be right...just a 9411 dial and the Date stuff back on.

Thanks for chiming in....you are inspiration Sir...it was YOU....YOU that did it LOL.

Are shucks
The real hero is Jmb!
My blue flake is currently dead. I broke the stem awhile back. Jmb encouraged me to try to repair it myself....well you can guess how that went! Lol I need to send it out for repair. It's got a 2824 in it currently, but you've inspired me to look for the gen type movement instead. I have the Yuki Tudor rotor too, it's been sitting Here a year.
I'm not sure my flake dial can take another repair, Jmb warned me it might not. Yuki has got some newer(to me) blue dials. Might try one.

Great Tudor! The (second) best blue snowflake I've seen on the forums. I believe the best goes to Nanuq who has the greatest zig lume job I've seen. The dial is a bit too dark blue but it looks damn good. Very nice.

Well thank you. It was a grail quest of epic preportions indeed.
I still get all ringlet everytime I wear it.
