I have a Rep Rolex Explorer Pro Hunter and the movement was loud when I got it. I wore it in the ocean and didn't loctite the back and salt water got in and there was water damage and the movement is corroded with salt. I love this watch but do not ever wear it. Can somebody please recommend a good watch maker who can replace the movement and about how much does this cost. Thank you.

Depends on the movement.

21j = $20-30
Clone 2836 = $80
ETA = $150+

Not including labour. Is the dial and hands ok or are they damaged as well?

I wouldnt loctite the caseback!

Grease up the o-ring and tighten (not gorilla strength tight) and the caseback shouldnt be your point of entry unless the o ring is pinched.

Oh also, wrong sub-forum for this post.

I'm sure ThinkBachs would recommend using loctite on your caseback screws......

I don't believe he put a new one in- to be sure, you need to pull the stem out completely and share a photo of it for us to comment on. This is the only way to verify it....

When re-installing the stem, you must use Loctite® Threadlocker Red 271. Watchsmiths are cheap bastards and never use the good stuff! Just a little on the tip should do it. Glad you shared this so we can look out for you.

:rofl:

thanks guys. Where can I purchase the movement from. I would most likely get a clone 2836. Is the bay a good place to loo? Thanks again everyone.

@intheshadows I apologize if this is in the wrong sub-thread
