Take a look at this pic that is on a GEN forum. This strap is for sale. It is allegedly an OEM AP Hornback. Look at the horns. My eyes are telling me that it seems they have been cut and glued on like many strap makers do. I'd like to see some expert opinions on this.

Yes. It seems to me that I have spotted more than one OEM Hornback, where it seems that they have cut a Horn and glued it into the strap.

I just got an gen ap hornback, i am quite sure its glue and sew over. The centre part of the strap feels very rubber also.

As you all know, it is very difficult to get that strap from a hide without incorporating multiple horns. They are also very tough and do not bend. So AP must work the hide in some way shape or form to make their straps. I don't think there's anything wrong with it. The straps still look incredible.

If i take a close look at my gen strap it does look very natural and the real thing to me.
The horns are not cosmetic shaped or blown up, the leather has a real pattern.

Yes they are "fused" into the strap.

In Layman's terms glued in and sanded LOL.

my gen looks similiar to this .. it does look like the horn sits on a piece of leather and "glued to the strap" but it seems to blend completely with surrounding leather pattern .. also can see on my whole baby croc leather

regards
lz

PS : Agreed that the short side of the OP straps does looks not gen and horns been implanted ....

I have a few gen AP straks and the horn is not glued on. I even have an AP hornback keychain. The horn is only pronounced in the first part of the strap, the other parts have it but hard to see, will post some pics if I have some time

Don't know what you lot are smoking, but I sure want some of it. It's just the outer edge of the scale with the horn on it. I can't see a single thing wrong with the original images posted that would make me think it was 'pasted' on in any way, shape or form. As soon as you did that and then bend the strap it would come unstuck eventually.

I also have a gen strap on my volcano and I can assure you its glued or mounted. However on some of the pics posted looks at least strange..

I'm going to spoil the party here.

everything in this thread is pure genuine, no cuts, no pastes, no inserts.
that very first pic though, the one that started this thread is by far the
most questionable.

the short strap side is questionable, I can't say for 100% sure, but if I were
to choose I would say gen. I'm not seeing any evidence of anything at all
in this thread being one of the cut and paste jobs.
