I've only owned four reps in my life all being Rolex. But I was watching a youtube video of a Rolex GMT Master II 1675? And the owner was 16. I'm honestly thinking its a replica because I don't believe a 16 year old would save up to buy a Rolex. Most work or save up for a car. I didn't ask if it was fake didn't want to start a fight with the kid. But I assumed it was a present from his parents? Here I am at 27 and can't afford a real Rolex or any other highend watch. Even if I saved up I'll still be short a few grand.
Thank god for replicas and homages lol.

Or its stolen.

don't be embarrassed. ID your watch as a rep and be proud. A good rep is going to keep good time, and face it...at the end of he day, that's all that matters.

the fact that the rep is accurate to the gen is gravy.

So...I get a watch that keeps good time, and has many of the same qualities as the watch that you (...the big time watch Nazi) are trying to sell me for the price of a down payment on a house.

who the smart one here???? :picard:

If I had 40,000 to spend on a watch, I would still make the same decision...after all how much is it really worth??

You can not think or judge a 16yo wearing a rolex is wearing a fake one.
Maybe his dad is someone rich, and want to buy him a present ? possible
Maybe he is a singer with top dollar revenue? possible
Justin bieber is 17yo and he drives ferrari... :D

I'm 48. You wear your reps 'comfortably' where you know there will be no hassle, like an AD, depending how good they are. I have a few PAM reps that have been 'inspected' by GEN friend owners to no detection!, while they wear their gen watches! Because of my job I see quite a few gen Panerai watches on my customer's wrists and never have I heard a 'fake!' comment...., my 2 cents.

I always liked Rolex watches and I was wathcing also the TRForum. Every time there was a post like " I'm turning 18, which Rolex should I buy to myself for my birthday?" I was going mad. This is when I undersood that I have nothing in common with many people there.
When someone asked them about it they said that they work hard 2-3 years. They are very smart and very hard workers, allright. :frusty:
Family money... The same children drive also expensive cars and do other expensive things.
Me, personally I dont feel bad of wearing a rep (one that I can buy the gen version of course) because I have some gens, I am not a kid, I have a decent work and a family. When I was 18 or 20 I hadn't think of buying an expensive watch, all I had was a Casio chrono and a Swatch after that.

I don't like wearing them to work. I feel more comfortable outside of the office.

I've never felt embarrassed, but once while wearing my DSSD i felt a little uneasy. I was in a resort area with my give year old daughter and a young member of a group of five to six never do well looking group made some comment about my watch to his peers. All i heard was "...you see that watch?", i couldn't make out the rest. It was said in a hushed voice and i felt i was getting cased. Could you imagine being mugged over a rep? I scooped up my daughter and put some distance between us and the group.

that's a really good question. sometimes I do. my reps, and even my gens are better than my boss's.

I have one avid watch collector colleague and even my gens put his to shame i feel embarrassed to even swap my watch duties on a regular basis. I respect this colleague and would really hate to have his "feelings" hurt by showboating all my watches, reps or gens alike every week.

He did point out one watch of another colleague and made a sarcastic remark about it. ( the watch wearer was wearing and obvious fake pos) but I don't think my good colleague friend knew. He did know that it was a high end watch. when he told me he made a sarcastic remark about the watch, i cringed at the thought and didn't want to break it to him that it was a horrible rep. maybe i should have.

then again, i have another colleague of mine who has obvious gens where each one of them is worth as much as a car. I pointed one watch out that she had and she was taken aback that anyone even noticed, as she has since become self conscious about wearing high end watches around me. We shared some watch stories and told her about my gen Omegas and Rolexes, but didn't talk about my rep brands.

I sometimes wear my Citizen Eco Drive when i have meetings with my boss. He's the Director of the company, so yeah, you don't want to upstage him.

Right now, I've been wearing the same watch for two weeks straight. Just an ordinary Lumtec. Will switch to my newly modded sunnydale crystalled PO soon.

on the other hand. I proudly write with my gen MB rollerball pen and everyone knows I have one. I mix it up with my Narikaa MB fountain pen sometimes.

Nice thing about a rep...just hand it over, no big deal. :)

I'm going to be giving my daughter my gen Rolex when she turns 16. we are not "in the money" in any sense of the word. It's just something I want to do as there are just too many watches in my stable to keep for myself. I already gave two of them to my Mom.

I have. Many of my friends know I wear replicas while they have gens. I will absolutely get a gen when I'm starting to make some money (still young) but I remember this one particular time when an acquaintance with a gen Breitling asked me thouuusaaand of questions about my GMT master, he thought it was gen. It was a little embarassing breaking the ice telling him it was an replica, since he would never think so. He thought it was my high school graduation present like his Breitling lol.

In my country, you will be talked and be the topic of gosip amoung your circle of friends, if one knows you are wearing ANY fake expensive/luxury items, including bags, wallets, shoes.

And, between friends, we like to be amazed at the nice watch he/she wears, and borrow it just to try and feel it. This is where the dangerous part is. :D
And, due to the nature of my country's friendlyness towards replica shop/dealers/wholesale etc. People is being more smarter to distinguish which is gen and which is fake :D

My group of friends is so crazy of gen things, that as a teenager junior high we have a habit to identify each other's stussy, mossimo, etc shirts authencity by looking at our friend's brand tag at the back of the shirt. Insane.

Sometimes when I wear a flashy blingy rep of a very recogniseble $20.000+ watch in my cheap comfy shorts and shoes, but then I look at the amazing watch and I don't give a shit anymore. I never tried to pass a rep as a gen and if somebody has a problem with me wearing a rep, f**k 'em
