Hi there,

I just bought a Patek Philippe rep, with a great experience from Hont Watch, who I will review when I can take decent pictures.

I want to get a new strap. There's a little store near me that sell and change straps, they also sell original pateks, omegas, rolex etc.

It's a tiny little store in a train station, but it's NYC so I guess they sell the odd genuine watch as well.

I'm a little concerned about taking the rep to this store, as they will probably know it's a fake.

What do you advise? I'm being cautious. :) Maybe I should buy the band and work out how to change it myself.

thanks

Take it to another place. Sears does watch band changes, I usually take mine there if its an issue (ie. I can't get it off with the tools I have). They have no idea about watch brands, I brought in a rep Rolex a year ago and she thought it was an Invicta.

you could also purchase the strap and go to a flea market/shopping mall. They have small mom & pop jewelery stores that can change the band for you.

I just buy the tool I need!

Though, why be afraid of a watch shop? Just go in there and be upfront and ask if they will change the strap. At worst, they can say no.

Dont know what kind of patek it is or the strap attachment method, but get a springbar tool or screwdriver as those are probably what are holding the strap on.

Now you dont have to go to a store whenever you want to change your watch strap.

Buy the tool and never pay a cent again, for what they will charge you it is worth it. Plus you get to change the straps whenever you want to!

thanks guys. I bought the tool in the end, it's just a spring bar. It's nice to be able to change it myself, whenever the moment calls for it.

I was also surprised how easy it is! took me 3 minutes.

I've heard people speak of a store in the train station in NYC that works on reps. Probably the same one.

Or maybe it was in London.............

I had the same issue with removing some links on a band. I looked at some threads and ended upuying a link tool and doing it myself. Now that I conqurered that, I just ordered some quality tools from Amazon. Part of this hobby for me is doing it myself. My advice is to buy the tool and try to change the band on your own.
