AP ROO Fixing Questions

Hi all,

My AP ROO Blackthemes started to stop 5 minutes after winding and only restarts again upon rewinding. The watch also loses time but I am pretty sure this is a function of the previous problem. The watch is around a year and a half old.

I haven't been on the forums for over a year so I don't know who the best person to ask to fix this is and what not so my questions are as follows:

1) Is it worth fixing? Or should I just buy a new one?
2) Who is the best at dealing with these things? (maybe also a waterproof treatment and touching up scratches etc.)
3) This sort of relates back to the first question but how much would such a repair and treatment cost

Thanks in advance all.

*EDIT*

I also have a panerai that needs fixing - the crown does not push in properly.

And I am based in the UK so I guess European watchsmiths would make more sense.

Sounds like its due for a service. There's a number of modders who can perform the jobs you require in the EU.

If it's just a service, does it need to go away to a modder?

If you have a local independent watch repairer they should be able to service it for you. Obviously avoid anyone selling AP (and probably any of the other prestige brand).

i dunno, it is stopping constantly so may need a new movement entirely - not sure at all. I would consider an ETA movement - probably worth it.

Im not sure a Swiss movement is such a good idea since you have the running seconds @ 12.
That means you have to modify the swiss movement the same way Noob modify the Asian 7750.
I rather have a A7750 modded by some Asian guy who did the mods 100 times then a local watchsmith doing it for the first time.

So my tip would be to first send it to a trusted watchsmith and see if he can fix it, if not trying to source a Noob A7750 with sec @ 12

Mine, a Diver, was stopping randomly and I took it to my local guy. He whipped the back off and told me a spring was twisted and hooked on the regulator. He fixed it there and then and charged me £10.

It's been fine since. I know that was a fix, not a service, but my point is that it could be something much simpler than requiring a new movement.

As Klockis points out, this is a modified movement, so a straight swap is not going to be a simple job.

Ok thanks a lot guys - who would you recommend from the forums that I send it to because I would prefer that than trying to find a trustworthy watchsmith in London who doesn't sell top end brands.
