Another question:
Does this watch have the white gold stamping or was that a flaw of another Sub C?

OP, what is the serial number on this watch? I just bought a sub-c no-date from Sead, and I can't tell if it's a Noob or this new "BP" version.

When I bought it, I had asked for a Noob no-date, but Sead said it was a "new version." My serial is: V261246.

Next update: So i removed the double sided adhesive from the bezel assembly and cleaned the back of the insert. It just sits on the bezel assembly without clicking in (that is to be expected). But it still sits a tiny fraction too high. These are macros and blown up with poor lighting (sorry). But it's probably 0.1 mm too high.

Moral of the story, QC your watches :) but all in all this has been a ton of fun.

Any suggestions on how to get it to sit lower?

Not sure, but the serial will be different between ND and this. This is from the factory that makes the BP and i believe the "ultimate" SD so you can use that info to differentiate between what is noob and what is not. The noob case back does not look this, the noob lugs do not look like this, the noob pearl doesn't either.

what is this stuff in the bezel ?
subcinsert3of3.jpg

Is that not the adhesive tape he was referencing? It looks pretty thick, I'd be taking it out and I'm sure the insert would then sit flush.

I saw stuff attached to the bottom of the insert already, this looks like a part of the assembly of the bezel ??? can it be more double sided tape ? if it is part of the assembly, I would scrape a layer off of it so insert sits lower on it....or try to push it down lower ....

RSH:

I took off the stuff in the bezel assembly. it was a double sided adhesive gel that was quite thick. I also cleaned off the back of the insert. Still sits a tad too high, was going to use my own epoxy to adhere it back.

you can determine where the bezel insert is sitting and what it is rubbing onto.... then shave the metal on the bezel below the spot on the insert......if it is not evenly 0.1mm too high all around, consider putting the insert in different positions on the bezel, perhaps spinning it in the bezel to see if it sits more flush on a certain orientation. It could be due to an insert that is a tad thick. Or something in the bezel assembly. Either way you are way better than before....

Thanks for the advice rsh! I played with it a bit and got it to sit more flush, the thing is that it really needs even pressure, so i put a bit of epoxy on the underside, lined it up correctly, and put a rubber o-ring (i'm a car guy) on top of the insert and put a couple lbs of weight on it to evenly press the insert in. I'll give it an hour or two and see how it looks.

Oh dear. I would not haves used epoxy. Just a couple drops of hypo cement would've been good enuff.

epoxy was the wrong word ... it's like a ruber adhesive, easy to remove.

That said this insert isn't fitting in to flush ... gonna have to do some shaving i think.

I'll be very interested to see everyone's photos who gets this watch with a flush insert.

FURTHER UPDATE:

The cuplrit is found: the gasket was unevenly pressed and not fully pressed. thanks tr573 for bringing that up. I'm pretty much a noob when it comes to how these things are constructed, but now I understand a lot more. I was able to use a small screw driver and tap the gasket down further and now the bezel insert sits flush!!!! I'm gluing it down with weights again and hoping this time for a nice result. Thanks for all the help and comments :)

Are you ready with me?

I dont' know what you are talking about, sorry.

just bought this one from Sead also. can't wait for it to come in.

Anyone interested in the bracelet? I will not use it, for I am converting to a Nato Strap right when I get it.
