fluttering movement

What does it mean when the sec hand flutters randomly? does it need servicing? Or not enough power reserve? Thanks

What kind of movement?
How old is it?
Does it keep good time?
Can you be more specific on the flutter issue? Does it bounce ahead and then back, or does it look like it misses a beat?

JLC NSD less than 2 months old. doesn't miss a beat, tells time just fine as far as I can tell. Power reserve only last for about 20 hrs max, and that's after around 80 rotations of the crown, the flutter issue, saw it a few times not always, like lightly breathing at a feather, flapping. last for a few secs and it start to run normally again.

The fluttering probably is the result of exessive gear lash. I dont know if that can be fixed. im guessing this is a low beat 21J?

Power reserve in not so sure about, could be a broken or slipping mainspring

Yeah, take it in, the 25J hi beat should have no signs of fluttering.

Same, I only saw 21J behave like that.
But I dont think NSD exist in 21J format?

....could be a problem with the main spring and/or the regulator.... You'll have to open it up to know for sure..:cheers:
