My first purchase from a TD (www.silix-prime.co) couldn't have gone more smoothly. Paid via PayPal on 11/29. Received QC's on 12/3. Michelle shipped via airmail the next day. Only hitch was that according to the tracking info it sat in the Hong Kong PO for a week.

I'm very pleased with the watch. I think I mentioned I once owned a gen IWC chrono. I can't compare them now, but there really are no tells on the watch itself that I notice, and the wind on the movement is butter smooth. The embossed leather watch band is another matter of course, but I didn't have high expectations for it. I spent a few minutes researching genuine croc and alligator bands today. (Recommendations welcome.) Also the buckle isn't great--the tang is loose (The gen was tight, with no side to side movement) and "BRO Swiss Stainless Steel" is off center. It looks like a gen sold on eBay for $55 last week and I saw another for $95.

Again, strap advice most appreciated. Looking for a semi-gloss croc or alligator with the larger scales, padded to 5mm or so.

And thanks again for the support and advice. You guys are great.

Congrats!

If you want a gen strap, you can contact strap daddy in the TD section.

There is so much to like about that watch. It is stunning in its modesty.

How is the lume on your watch? Will it last the night? I agree with the comment this is a great looking watch design in it's understatement- I'm sure you will enjoy it.

I have nothing to compare it to. My Dweller has no functioning lume, but it's at least ten years old. When exposed to light then viewed in a dark room the XVI looks like the lume photos I've seen on RWI. Tonight I'll give it a good shot of light, then try to photograph it in the morning.

Simple

Nice and simplistic.......beautiful watch. Huge congrats.

Thanks! You nailed it. It's understated. I had a gen IWC chrono for about ten years and only two or three people (all Europeans) knew what it was. I like the idea that you can buy a nice used gen XVI for $2500, so it's not outlandish that one might own it. And it's a good size for my relatively thin wrist.

I considered getting a chrono, but I had a problem with a pusher on my gen, so I was concerned that a rep would be even less reliable. (The repair was $250!)

There was still visible lume this morning approx 7 hours after light exposure. Not bright, but visible.
