I'm sure I'll piss everybody off because talented modders are in short supply and all long time members are quick to assume that new members are impatient or quick to say the wrong thing or ask a question that's been asked over and over, while much of the time this is true, many times I notice new members make a point that while painful is in fact true....
The OP originally had a question about the business practices of a well respected and beloved modder that seemingly placed Wiz in a bad light, so naturally the usual defensive comments came quickly. While I've not yet had the privilege of having Mr. Wiz do any work for me, I will say that because of his response and comments to this Post I will be considering him for my next project (my hats off to you sir!)....
Fact is Wiz is correct in saying that a simple 5second response to someone that is trusting you and PAYING you for the work that you accept deserves no less. The OP never once criticised the work that Wiz is doing, on the other hand, he hasn't seen the work but still has full confidence That Wiz will deliver beautiful work as I'm sure all the long time members already know because in times past they've probably went through the same waiting and concern as the OP and was delivered a beautiful finished product. I wish all the modders would take a look At Wiz's response and take it to heart then immediately follow his lead.
The poor communication that some of these guys practise would be UNACCEPTABLE behavior in 99% if not 100% of the business world outside of our hobby and would not be tolerated!
I went through 4 or 5 modders while selecting the person that I ultimately decided to trust my watch and my money with and in the end my decision was settled by the modder that had the best communication skills. I determined this by sending questions over a weeks time and I have to say that all are quick to respond the first day or two and will give you a great spill initially and the supposed best modders give you the best spill ,but then ,after a few days they begin doing exactly what the OP stated in his original post and I just didn't feel comfortable in sending my watch to any of them although I'm sure any one of them would have done a great job. I wound up with the modder that displayed the best communication skills. After three weeks I'm still waiting on the work to be completed but I can honestly say that from my first contact with my modder until now it has been a pleasure and I'm sure I'll be delighted with his work. I made a comment to him the other day that if he could teach the other modders his communication skill he'd be legendary in the rep world.
If you look back on this post I believe you or any of us that spend money with these guys have justified expectations to just be updated if something delays the tentative completion of our project, after all, it's not a FAVOR, if your charging for it...... CHEERS!
