Killed my 111 - can it be brought back from the dead?

Have a PAM 111 (M) replica with, I believe, a low beat 6497 asian clone movement. Great, great watch which I wore every day for the past several months.

This am, knocked it off the sink - landed face/crystal first on the floor - the shock from the impact killed the movement.

I'm a little hesitant to take it to local watchmakers as I'm unsure what their attitude towards reps is. Any recommendations for where I can send it for service? Is it even worth the cost? I paid a total of $175 for it and, if it costs about that much to ship it and have it fixed, I'll just try picking up another from the sales corner.

Thanks.

Speedy G is solid.

He's worked on money watches including mine and DCParks latest almost all gen builds.

Thanks for the replies, gentlemen. I spend most (well, all, really) of my time on the sales corner. Didn't notice the watchmakers section... DOH!

A new asian Unitas clone movment should be cheap, too, if you're a little adventurous and willing to remove / re-set hands and dial. The culprit is probably a broken balance staff, btw.

Considered that. I've been looking for an excuse to buy some basic watchmaker tools...

In answer to your original question, I remember what my Dad used to say.

Anything can be repaired, all you have to decide is whether it's worth the money.

Ultimately, you're the only one who can answer that question, sometimes watches have a sentimental value on top of a financial one.

I like that you're thinking about buying some tools and maybe changing the movement, nothing ventured nothing gained - and you'd have the tools on hand next time you needed them, and the fact that you're considering it tells me that you back your diy skills to some degree.
