I have had this idea in my mind for quite some time. About a year or two ago a cute girl I know bought a vintage Coach purse and I was impressed by the quality of the leather. I know most other strap junkies know this feeling. We see good leather and we think about the strap potential.
I knew I had to get one made. I watched several vintage Coach purses on fleaBay for months. Finally I found the right one at the right price. My GF seemed a bit concerned when she saw me so excited about the delivery of the purse I bought myself online.
It was a beautiful old navy purse. The smell and quality of the leather used was terrific. The lighting in these pics doesn't do justice to the deep navy blue color.
I started putting together a few sketch ups of a custom "ammo style" strap. I wanted a very subtle nod to the leathers previous glamorous lifestyle. I didn't want it to be too over the top so I was looking for it to be not scream Coach when on the wrist. I doesn't at all IMHO. I also have a second strap without any Coach embossing at all.
Once I had the leather in hand. I talked to a few different strap makers about what I had in mind. I ended up going with BigChief because he did a great job on another custom strap I requested. Plus I already had another pending order for a Hippo strap we had been discussing for quite some time. I sent him the sketches of what I had in mind and sent the leather his way. Magic.
Anyways, I doubt any of you read that... on to the pics...
