While watching football today, my wife made a comment about the players slapping each other on the ass. I jokingly say, its not gay as long as you say "good game". But seriously, what started the ass slapping? And even if doing so doesn't question your sexuality, why do they do it?

Is there any history behind ass slapping and sports?

I totally understand a man wanting to slap a woman's ass. But what about a guy scoring a touchdown makes you want to slap his ass?
