So i purchased my first replica, a ultimate version with an Asian 7750 movement about 3 months ago and it seems to have died. the watch was around 300$,,

whats the most you would pay to have it fixed?

1. i really like the watch
2. it wasn't that expensive
3. if i get a new watch this could happen again
4. if i get it fixed could this happen again?

The repair shop states they can repair any watch, however i told them the movement model and he had a "deer in the headlights look" also mentioned it was a replica. I then asked if they do pressure testing for water resistance, he was telling me the seals are fake and never take any replica near water.. not sure if i need to find another watch repair guy what i should do.

the said watch smith / jewelry repair guy has been in business for 20+ years and has a storefront at a local mall.

Depends on the movement mate. But generally a service of an A7750 would be less than buying a new one. I wouldn't trust a local guy to mess with my reps purely because they don't know the specifics of the movement or watch.

Which watch is it?

If this guy doesn't know what a 7750 is I think you need a new watchmaker, this is why I do all my own repair and services makes life ploy easer.

Forgot to ask what was wrong with the movement, did it stop and start, die completely or does it run alittle???

You should check the watch smiths listed in the forum index. Depending on where you are there are good ones in both US and EU. The cost of shipping is nominal and servicing of a 7750 is really the only way to insure any longevity.

If you're in US, I've had good work done by both SpeedyG and 14060 or 10660(George) working with 7750 movements. Both are trusted dealers here.

I'm not familiar with repairing watches but im a handy guy, once took apart the engine on my old car (rsx) to find and replace the issue it was having.

The watch is a Breitling BCE, the movement stopped and started, then died altogether, it became hard to wind before this happened, i can hear the rotor on the back spin when i swirl the watch, however im weary of winding the watch manually. seems to me that the movement is frozen up.

edit: i rarely used the chronograph maybe less than 5times in the 3 months owned

Servicing runs from approx 150-200 on a 7750 movement (rep or gen, Asian or ETA)
Above price is what I would expect to pay in the us

Three options:
1. Buy a new one. Sell the old one for parts or part it out to help recover some money.
2. Send it for service/ repair.
3. Buy a new movement and swap it out (#2 might involve this also)

I'd start with #2 and let the repair estimate dictate what I do from there.

Also sounds like you need to find a new watchsmith or use one of the ones on the forum.
