I am looking for a little advise from all you wise ones on the board..... I have my wedding coming up in 8 months and I want a new watch for the day. I currently own 2 PAM's, a 111M that I wear most days for work with a suit & a 251K Daylight that I love as more of a casual watch.

I really want something special for my wedding day as I am sure it will end up in many photo's & am happy to get something that if needed can turn in to a bit of a franken. I have actually got a PO 45mm Orange/Black Ultimate & a PAM029M Noob on order but I don't think either of these are suitable.

What would you guys recommend I buy now so I have time to get it & do what ever is needed?

Cheers

Chris

First - congrats!

For your wedding you want a dress watch - not a sport watch like the others you have.
Rolex DJ or a Patek would be my recommendations.

Thanks for the ideas so far guys. As I have almost zero knowledge of Rolex watches I guess I had better get researching! Can you recommend a DJ that I should start looking at? I notice you have DJ1 & DJ2. I don't do gold so would want something silver?

As another idea what about a Brietling Bentley Flying B as more of a dress watch?

I'm sure your bride will tell you what to wear...they have a way of doing that

I might be alone in my opinion here, but for a wedding I'd consider going with an under $1000 gen instead of a rep. Let's face it, nobody's gonna look at you, nevermind your watch. It's all about the bride. So why not pick something that you'll feel better wearing? Maybe check out used watches for sale using watchrecon.

I'm gonna take a peek at what I can find for under a grand.

I would go with black leather strap, white dial. After that, something you'll look at in a few years and fondly remember the details of that day, so I guess most important would be to pick something you will keep and wear again and again.

Im an IWC guy, so I would say a Portuguese (though not the most accurate if going with the 7-days) or a Portofino. Maybe a Montblanc Timewalker. Im not a Cartier person, but that might suit you well also.

A couple of gens I would recommend would be a Tissot Visodate or a Hamilton Jazzmaster - there are several variations to consider.

IWC Portofino Automatic. (this is a picture of the gen, but the current rep of this model is supposed to be very accurate and very nice)

To me a Datejust is not a dress watch but of course the trend these days is wearing sport watches with suits. I'd agree with something like the IWC above. I'd probably want gold + black dial for a tux.

In the end, it doesn't matter. You could wear a vintage sub, chrono, or whatever floats your boat. It's going to be under your cuff and nobody is going to see it anyway.

Right now my dress watch is a PAM 288K:

since you are a Pam guy, the 288 is great....If not, a GMT II ceramic is a great watch too

I wore a Pam 288k at my wedding. It's a great watch, but it's really a bit too big/bold to really be considered a dress watch. If I had to do it over I'd get the IWC with a nice alligator strap.

Wear whatever you want, it is your last chance to make a decision of your own!

I'd +1 an IWC, I love the F. A. Jones special edition at the moment, classy, simple and timeless.

Enjoy your day, the watch won't make any difference either way!

Pick a watch that isn't too flashy... This day is about her and the wedding. You don't want guests eye balling what watch you got on... Especially if it looks like its worth more than the ring you bought her!

I'd get married wearing a Franck Mueller crazy hours. Looks nice and dressy from a distance but has some quirks when looked closely.
Plus the name pretty much sums up the whole occasion ;-)
